With MJ, the search for baby room ideas was no difficult task. There are tons of cute boy themed room and nursery decor items available and he was the only child. Now that Baby Girl is here, finding room decorating ideas for baby girls should be just as easy, right? Well I am sure it is, but once she stops sleeping at our bedside, she’ll be sharing a room with MJ!
I totally want the whole pink girly-theme, but it’s just not possible. Neither my husband nor MJ would approve! Right now, his room is decorated with a jungle theme, mostly greens and browns. It is really cute and can work as the ‘neutral’ solution, but it seems a little more boyish to me. I don’t want to do anything too masculine or too girly either. Decisions, decisions!
Check out my baby room ideas for boys and girls sharing a room:
Cartoon Themed Rooms: I guess this would depend upon the ages of the children sharing the room, but there are a bunch of cartoon character room ideas that could be gender neutral. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Looney Tunes, Sponge Bob, Winnie the Pooh, Backyardigans and Sesame Street are some good suggestions to start. There are a lot of toddler bedding selectins available as well.
Multi-Colored: There are a variety of multi-colored room themes out there, polka dots, the alphabet, stripes, retro designs and a bunch of other solid designs. You can choose from bedding sets that are already put together or put a bunch of different stuff together. You can let your kids pick out their favorite colors and mix and match with colored pillows, comforters, rugs, wall art and other accessories.
Half and Half: A friend of mine actually did this a couple of years back. Split the room down the middle and choose decorations for each side of the room, one for boy and one for girl. It definitely looked different, but brought sort of a wild and crazy vibe to the room. She even painted the walls according to each sides color scheme. Fun!
: Love the beach? Do your kids die to go camping every year? You could swing a fun room theme with your favorite inspirations from nature. Maybe opt for a tropical paradise theme, a creatures of the sea theme, or even just nature in general using trees, flowers and animals. Get creative, this could be fun!
Zoo Animals / Jungle Safari: This is the theme that we currently have, it could definitely work for boys and girls. Many jungle sets feature lions, monkeys, giraffes, elephants and zebras and come in a variety of pastel or bright color schemes. I would love it if the set we have was a little more colorful! There are actually a lot of options available, you can find a ton of decor to go with this theme. If you want to focus on just one animal, there are zebra crib bedding and elephant baby bedding sets available as well.
