I was so excited to be able to take my family to the newest water park in Southern California. Sea World knows how to get it right when it comes to attractions and theme parks, so when I heard that they were *finally* going to bring Aquatica to San Diego, I was thrilled!

Sea World's Aquatica San Diego Entrance

Full of bright colors, animal exhibits and loads of water and giant slides, San Diego’s Aquatica is a can’t miss attraction! It is located in Chula Vista, right where the old Knott’s Soak City was. Many of the attractions and rides remain, but they were given a great make over. The park looks like an oasis with lush landscaping, live flamingos and turtles and very clean water. Guests can enjoy a day of relaxation and fun as you cool off from the summer heat. Rent a cabana for the family and choose from the Loggerhead Lane lazy river, the Big Surf Shores wave pool, Slippity Dippity slides and Walkabout Waters playground for kids and 6 rides that will excite any thrill seeker!

Check out the Aquatica grounds. You’ll see these flamingos as soon as you enter…

Here’s the kids playground, Walkabout Waters. With a 6 year old and a 2 year old, we spent the majority of our time here.

MJ had a blast on the slides at Slippity Dippity! They are perfect for kids 48 inches and under. He’s a little scary, so the smaller slides are a great introduction to the water park.

Just a few of the attractions (clockwise): Tassie’s Twister, which I wanted to get on SOOOO bad but I couldn’t :/ Then there’s Big Surf Shores, the giant wave pool, a huge spilling bucket of water at Walkabout Waters, and some more of the fun slides.

Rides at Aquatica San Diego

We had a wonderful time, I do hope to go back once more before the summer ends. I love that they offer life vests of all sizes free of charge, and the staff was very attentive at every attraction we visited. My daughter was all about the kids playground and the lazy river. MJ couldn’t get enough of the slides at Slippity Dippity. I still need to ride a few of the big girl slides that I couldn’t, I will bring a few more adults next time to help with the kids so we can ride more rides! Expect to pay theme park prices for food, parking, locker rental and admission, but the fun you’ll have is well worth the money. Stop by Sea World Aquatica San Diego website for a $5 off admission offer when you buy tickets online. Have a great time!

  • Wow! That looks really fun! We’re taking the family down to San Diego in a couple of weeks so we might have to check that out. The kids go absolutely bananas at water parks!
