Happy almost Thanksgiving! I hope you’re all enjoying your day with family and friends, and most of all, good FOOD!

I needed to make an easy vegetable side dish, our broccoli cheese casserole was forgotten and burnt to a crisp. I scoured the cabinets to see what I could make, finding a can of green beans. Ok, that’ll work, but plain old green beans wouldn’t do it.

I decided to adopt the idea I used in my corn and bacon saute and try a bacon green bean side dish. Holy moly was it good! Get the recipe for these sauteed green beans with bacon and onions below. If you love all things bacon, this slow cooker bacon and corn chowder is an easy recipe you’ll love!

Easy Bacon and Green Beans Recipe

The purpose of this green beans and bacon recipe is ease and taste, and I promise you this one is not lacking! All you have to do is saute the ingredients, steam, and serve.

Ingredients needed to make this bacon side dish:

  • Whole green beans (canned or fresh)
  • Bacon
  • Garlic
  • Onion
  • Salt and pepper

Step 1: Fry up the bacon strips

In a large saucepan, fry the bacon slices until crispy. Remove bacon from the pan and set it aside to allow it to cool.

Step 2: Stir in the garlic and onion

Over medium heat, retain the bacon grease in the saucepan and add the minced garlic and diced onions to the pan. Stir to coat, about 2-3 minutes, then crumble the bacon strips into the pan.

Step 3: Add the green beans and simmer

Next, add the whole green beans, lightly season with salt and pepper as desired, and stir for a minute or two until all ingredients are combined. Reduce heat to low, cover the pan, and simmer for about 10-15 minutes, or until the green beans are tender. Stir every 5 minutes and re-cover.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 14-1/2 oz. can Del Monte whole green beans drained
  • 6 slices bacon crumbled
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions
 

  • In a large skillet, fry bacon slices until crispy. Remove bacon from the pan and set it aside to cool.
  • Retain the bacon grease in the skillet and heat over medium heat. Add minced garlic and diced onions to the pan. Stir to coat, about 2-3 minutes, then add crumbled bacon to the pan.
