Fuel Up To PLAY: Kids Learn To Live Happy, Healthy and Have FUN!

With a household of football fans, I am partnering with the NFL and the California Milk Advisory Board in a sponsorship to share Fuel Up to Play 60, which supports activity and nutrition for kids. Y’all have got to get this program in your kids’ schools!

When it comes to my family, I am big on leading happy, healthy and active lives. So far, I have not had any problems, my kids know that it’s important to get active every day, and what kinds of foods are good to eat.

Unfortunately, this is not the case for all families, there are so many distractions these days that it can be tough to teach kids how to stay healthy, and actually care to do it! I believe that the easiest way is to make it fun, so I love that the National Dairy Counsel, the National Football League, and the United States Department of Agriculture  have teamed up for this great initiative to get kids out to play!

Fuel Up to Play 60 is a special program that makes good nutrition and physical activity a fun and attainable goal! The objective here is to teach kids the importance of, and empower them to take their own action to make their own good choices when it comes to food and exercise. Participating schools can get involved in the program, where educators, parents and the students all work together to keeps kids fueled up to play!

Here’s How It Works:

  • Sign up your school on the Fuel Up To Play 60 website, build your team of peers at school, and plan a healthy eating and physical activity that everyone can take part in. This could be a running club, organizing a nutritious breakfast in class, or have a dance party that gets everyone moving!
  • Encourage your team members, and your whole school to eat healthy, nutrient rich foods and get at least 60 minutes of activity per day. Good food choices include low-fat and fat-free milk and milk products, fruits, vegetables and whole grains and lean protein foods.
  • Qualifying California schools participating in Fuel Up To Play 60 may be eligible for up to $4,000 for the 2014-2015 school year to help support their health and wellness programs! This competitive program is designed to support schools that implement plays from the 2014-2015 edition of the Fuel Up to Play 60 Playbook

NFL For The Love of Play

I love this program, and I can’t wait to sign up for my son’s elementary school. I like the idea of breakfast in the classroom or before school starts, we are big fans of cereal, fresh fruit and milk around here and we could put together a cereal bar with Kellogg’s Raisin Bran, Mini Wheats, and other whole grain selections!

Visit Fuel Up to Play 60, open up your playbook and sign your school up today, you know the kids will benefit from exercise and nutrition, and your school could benefit with the funds! Build lasting fun and positive habits that make kids feel good, and look good throughout their lives. Way to go, NFL, NDC and USDA!

How will you implement Fuel Up to Play 60 at your school?
