What Can I Do About My Little Girl’s Sensitive Skin?

Both of my kids have had sensitive skin issues since birth, but they are completely different when it comes to soaps, lotions and shampoos. I am partnering with Aveeno® on a sponsored post to share ideas to keep sensitive skin clean, healthy and moisturized, no matter what age and stage they might be in. #Aveeno

Aveeno Baby Wash and Shampoo

It was a few months ago that my daughter FINALLY stopped complaining of itchy skin. Each night, she’d play around in the bath tub, and as soon as she dried off and got her jammies on, she would scratch through her clothes from head to toe! She has even woken up in the middle of the night to say that she can’t sleep, and that she’s “scratching” too much.

I feel like I tried everything. I started out with washing her clothes in allergy friendly detergent, and stripped the sheets and pillows on her bed to change into fresh linens. All that I tried was to no avail, so the next step was to try out a new body wash and a new lotion.

Come to find out, she’s just like my son when it comes to soaps, they need the most basic and natural ingredients possible or their skin dries and itches to no end. I had a very basic body wash that I was using, it works for my son, so it has to work for her, right? Not the case.

Once I started using Aveeno® Baby Wash & Shampoo in her bubble baths, there were barely any more complaints! I mean, instantly, I noticed a difference.  This body wash uses Active Naturals™ oat extract to lather and clean in a gentle way, and is soap and paraben free. What was once a nightly itching and scratching dance party, faded to only about once a week, and sometimes not at all.

Trying out Aveeno Baby Wash and Shampoo

I have used Aveeno® products in the past, but mostly for myself. I love that this body wash can be used from head to toe with no issues for sensitive skinned little ones. Products with natural ingredients have become more and more important to me, staying true to what we’re putting inside and outside of our bodies is the best way to be sure we are living as healthily as possible. All of the extra colors, dyes, scents, and oils can be overboard, Aveeno® Baby Wash & Shampoo has none of it.

If you’ve got a newborn, or a child with sensitive skin, or heck, even yourself, do whatever you can do to be sure that the skin stays clean and moisturized without irritation. You’ll have to try a few different things like I did, changing laundry detergents, using hypoallergenic bedding, and, finally, give Aveeno® Baby Wash & Shampoo a try. What if it works for you, too? No two people are the same.

  • My kids have very sensitive skin, they get eczema and scratch until it bleeds. I’ve tried Aveeno, Avocado oil, among a plethora of natural products. I really love getting just the most basic ingredients and making our own. Shea butter, coconut oil and essential oils. It has worked so much better than any product we’ve tried. Just make sure to get high quality essential oils, especially for putting on skin and your kids. The grocery store brands just aren’t great.

  • I have to confess that I love the Aveeno Baby line for myself! My had purchased some for my kids who also have sensitive skin, but sadly, they’re allergic to oats and it kept breaking them out. At least I found some more awesome products that I can add to my own collection.
