Wondering if you should go take your kids to see the new Beauty and the Beast movie? Read my short Disney’s Beauty and the Beast Review to help you decide.
♪ ♫ Tale as old as time… ♫ We all know the enchanting tale of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, the animated film about the beautiful Belle who befriends and falls in love with a hideous Beast, that captured our hearts. It’s a story about finding true love, and after seeing the live action version of the movie, which comes out March 17, 2017, I love it even more!
The remake of this film is absolutely stunning. The casting is fabulous, and the re-creation of the sets and costumes are so good! The beast looks totally realistic, and Emma Watson did such a great job as the fair maiden Belle. It is wonderful to see the story play out in human form, plus there are many parts that were added to fill in some of the blanks, and the amount of brown people that they casted – I LOVE to see us represented in a major movie like this! I also love the animation of each of the characters, Lumiere, Cogsworth, Mrs. Potts, Chip, and a few others in the Beast’s castle.
Disney’s Beauty and the Beast Review – Will I Take My Kids To See It?
Quick “gay moment” spoiler
Ok, so down to what you’re reading this Beauty and the Beast review for. I think that people have really gone out and twisted the news of LeFou being a “gay” character. Maybe he is. AND? Here’s the thing – during a ballroom dancing scene at the end of the film, lots of people are dancing and LEFOU DANCES WITH A MAN FOR 2.5 SECONDS. That’s IT. If you recall the original movie, he loved Gaston and sang the song all about him and how great he is long ago when the movie came out in 1991. There is no agenda. Let me tell you, there are no men kissing, no genitalia swinging, and y’all are going to survive, just like you always have.
If you make a big deal out of it, so will they.
So yes, I will totally take my kids to see the movie.
I think you should too. And they’ll love it, and you’ll love it, and it will be an awesome family night out at the movies! It’s a fabulous, enchanting love story that is absolutely well done from start to finish. Disney’s Beauty and the Beast is in theaters March 17, 2017, don’t miss it!
