The top La Paz, Mexico Resorts

La Paz, Mexico is a beautiful vacation destination on the Sea of Cortez in Baja California. It’s very close to its popular neighbor Cabo San Lucas, but with a much slower pace and relaxed vibe. There is so much to do at this lovely destination, take a waterfront stroll at Malecon and explore the city center of La Paz, go scuba diving or snorkeling with sea lions in La Paz and whale sharks, relax on the beach, sample some delicious Mexican cuisine, stop by one of their many museums, spend the day sport fishing, enjoy the slow pace with the locals, and so much more!

Despite the fact that this is a small, yet very safe city in Mexico, there are lots of La Paz, Mexico hotels. I stayed at the Costa Baja Resort and Spa, a beautiful, secure 4-star beachfront property that has everything you need for an amazing luxury vacation! It’s an exclusive place that only resort guests and property owners can access. Here’s why I loved the place, and why I think you should totally stay at the Costa Baja Resort in La Paz Mexico!

The view of the Sea of Cortez from the lobby of the resort is simply spectacular! The hotel grounds are nicely decorated and groomed, and there are amenities galore here (see below). From the restaurants to housekeeping and the front of the house staff, all were very helpful and attentive to guests’ needs throughout our stay.

2. Amenities are plentiful, they have everything you need

Ahhh where do I begin?! The amenities here make it one of the best places to stay at the Costa Baja Resort and Spa in La Paz Mexico. The rooms are a decent size and are decorated simply and modern. The beds have fresh white linens, the glass shower is gorgeous, Sliding glass doors open up to the patio where you can sit and enjoy a La Paz evening. In the room, you’ll get your standard coffee maker, refrigerator, 42-inch flat-screen TV, a desk, a safe, an extra sitting chair, and wifi in all areas of the resort.

In addition to nice rooms, they’ve got a beach club, day spa, fitness center, golf course, two pools, a swim-up bar, 5 restaurants, tennis courts, free daily shuttle service into town, and the concierge works daily till about 9 pm and is very helpful and knowledgeable about all things La Paz! Marina Costa Baja, La Paz, Mexico

3. The Costa Baja Resort is right on the beach, and next to the marina

The Costa Baja marina surrounds the resort, so guests have access to the area. Boats can be chartered, and the concierge can set you up with one of the tours and excursions that depart from the area. We took a snorkeling tour with Fun Baja, their office is right here at the Costa Baja marina. We actually swam with the sea lions at Isla Espiritu Santo, it was awesome!

Enjoy the beach, which is just steps away from your room. It is not quite the swimming area, it is very shallow, so I think it’s great for kids to splash around in. There are lots of little fish in the shallow parts of the water, and tons of pretty little shells washed up on the sand. Stroll to the end in front of the beach club to see hermit crabs, sea snails, and other little creatures in the rocky tide pool area!

4. The food is delicious, continental breakfast is included

With 5 restaurants on-site, there are many different foods to choose from throughout the day. Although the Costa Baja Resort is not all-inclusive, the food and drink prices are very affordable. Each person staying at the hotel will get a free continental breakfast at Mosaic restaurant each morning, great for your vacation food budget. The food is really good, and you can actually upgrade to the buffet for a few dollars! Try one of the other restaurants for lunch, and for dinner, I highly recommend Steinbeck’s and Azul Marino for dinner.

5. Close to the La Paz city center, free shuttle rides

The hotel offers a daily shuttle to and from the city center, multiple times per day. Stroll along the marina in Malecon, enjoy the sights, stop into a cafe or a bar for a margarita, and eat some of the best local Mexican food in the city. In the photo above, we sat along the main road at a little taco stand, watching the waves crash and stuffing our faces with fresh guacamole. Take me back!
