I asked my son what he wants to be when he grows up, and what future achievements he hopes to complete as an adult. I am partnering with got milk? to share the benefits of teaching our children healthy habits now, to use towards a healthy and successful future. Because who doesn’t want to be an astronaut? Or a baseball player?
Do you know what your kids aspire to be when they grow up?
At ages 7 and 4, I don’t think we’ve had the chance to have the conversation. I believe that it is important to give our kids the best possible fuel and foundation for a positive future, it’s never too early to start. Honestly, I had no idea what my kids wanted to be when they grew up, or if they had even thought about it themselves, so I decided that I would ask my 7 year old son.
Me: “Do you know what you want to be when you grow up?”
Son: “Ummm, I don’t know.”
Me: “Wait, you don’t know? What do you think about the adults you know, and what they do?”
Son: “Umm, I want to work with daddy and do the clothing business” (he has a clothing company)
Me: “Ok, that sounds awesome. So what do you think you have to do to get there?”
Son: “Umm, I don’t know.”
Me: “Well, what do you have to do as a kid now, and all the years up until you’re an adult?”
Son: “Finish school.”
Me: “Right, and stay healthy, keep your body fit, graduate elementary, middle school, high school, and college, studying something related to the fashion industry. Then, you’ll need to learn everything about the business from dad, right?”
Wanna know what I learned from this conversation? My son knows what he likes, and what he wants to do in his future, but he needs a little guidance getting there. Ahhh, the life of a parent.
Just as you need to be educationally prepared for the future, incorporating the right foods and vitamins in your child’s day is equally important. Setting, and sticking to goals starts with proper eating and nutrition to keep a healthy and strong mind and body. California Milk is loaded with calcium and essential vitamins, milk is the ideal building block in a child’s daily diet.
I asked my son how he thought that he’d actually become a clothing line designer, marketer, and even CEO, you know, the road map to get there. We came to the conclusion that you have to do everything in your power to ensure a great future. Well, and that moms and dads need to help along the way!
Listen, I LOVE that he’s got goals set already at 7 years old! He’s thought about where he wants to go in life, and I intend to do whatever I can to help him achieve. Doing well in school, hanging with the right crowd, following rules, staying healthy and eating right are collectively important in achieving future goals. Make sure that milk is in your child’s diet, with cereal in the morning, in the lunch box, or even if you have to put a little chocolate in it. Giving our children the proper vitamins each day is the very least we can do to make sure they are ready for the world!
