Face it – it’s time to clean up the house. Whether you’re wanting to do some early spring cleaning, or you’ve made a New Year house cleaning resolution, there are toilets to be cleaned, tubs to be scrubbed, floors to be mopped, and laundry to be folded! Although cleaning is not the most fun activity of your day, it’s super easy to keep it simple by cleaning almost everything with Clorox® Regular-Bleach.

Wait – I can clean the whole house with bleach?

YES, you can! Bleach is used for more than just your load of whites in the washer. There are so many great uses for bleach around the household, it disinfects almost everything! This is the perfect new year’s resolution for your home.

Cleaning your home for the new year

I am sort of OCD when it comes to cleanliness, any sight of something dirty or a foul smell puts me into a cleaning frenzy. I cannot stand knowing that there are germs on our doorknobs, the refrigerator handle, kitchen sink, tile floors, and even on the toilet seat that we sit on each day. Diluting bleach in a specific amount of water can actually work really well on all of those countertops and even that smelly toilet!

Knowing that I can use bleach to clean and sanitize, I decided to challenge myself to clean my whole house with just Clorox® Regular-Bleach. Here’s why…

  • Clorox® Regular-Bleach kills 99.9% of common household germs – including some cold and flu viruses!
  • Bathrooms and kitchens are especially full of germs, so it’s important to use something that will not only clean these surfaces but disinfects and deodorizes them as well.
  • Cleaning with bleach and water solution makes it simple and much more affordable to clean the whole house. No need to purchase 5 different cleaners for each area of the house!

Cleaning with bleach – How to prepare your home for the new year

How to disinfect frequently touched hard surfaces (bathtub, bathroom sinks, kitchen countertops, cutting boards): Use 1/2 cup of Clorox ® Regular-Bleach in 1 gallon of water. Thoroughly wet the surface with the solution and allow it to remain on the surface for 5 minutes. Rinse with clean water and dry.

How to remove mold and mildew: Disinfect all cleaned surfaces with a solution of 1/2 cup of Clorox ® Regular-Bleach, diluted in 1 gallon of water. Let the solution stay on the surface for at least 10 minutes before rinsing with clear water or allowing it to dry. Routinely check potential problem spots (e.g. Bathroom, laundry, mechanical room, etc.) for moldy odors, and disinfect often.

You can also clean and disinfect your kids’ toys and sippy cups, and your pets’ toys, bowls, and crates. Visit the Clorox® Regular-Bleach webpage to find out more.
