How cold is it where you live? Is it freezing yet? Do you look this pale?

I live in San Diego, and the temperatures have finally dropped into the 50’s at night. I can only imagine what you Northern folks are going through, we’ve barely cracked the surface because the coldest months are January and February! I lived in Wisconsin for a couple of years, there is no comparison to the feeling of the bite you get once you step outside. So, the question begs: how can you keep up your beauty regimen without the brisk weather drying out your skin?

I realize that as moms, we tend to take care of everyone and everything else before we take care of ourselves. Got all of the mittens, jackets and gear for the kids? GREAT, now it’s time for MOM, and my skin is a top priority! I have a few suggestions that I live by each year to keep fresh and radiant skin, dry and cracked is not allowed. Check out my winter beauty regimen and give it a try.

3 Tips To Keeping Your Skin Hydrated During The Winter

1. Keep your skin moisturized

You’ve got to keep your skin full of moisture t o combat the cold. To ensure a smooth and radiant glow, use a moisturizing body and facial wash in the shower.  Try your best to find products that are natural, non-comedogenic and follow up with a moisturizing lotion that has natural or essential oils. Do this daily, apply from head to toe, except for your face. When my hands feel dry, I keep a small container of thick hand cream in my purse.

3. Apply a facial SPF moisturizing cream, daily

You’ll need to apply a facial moisturizer twice daily. An SPF facial moisturizer is recommended for daily use, believe it or not, you can still harm your skin with the sun’s powerful rays in the winter. Using Aveeno® Positively Radiant® CC Cream, you’ll get three in one bottle: a natural soy complex to hydrate, a light tint of color to even out the skin tone, and an SPF 30 protective layer to combat the sun. Use this moisturizer after showering, be sure that your skin is still damp and apply a small amount, forming a light layer on the face and allow it to soak in before applying your make up.

4. Wear make up

After applying Aveeno® Positively Radiant® CC Cream, it’s time to make that face up! The winter cold tends to flush out our faces and make us look pale, wearing make up can make you look lively and awake. I suggest a liquid foundation that matches your skin tone, and try not to use any powders, if possible. Keep your lips hydrated as well, chap sticks and lip glosses do the trick for me.

It’s time to say goodbye to chapped lips and chapped cheeks! I have been using Aveeno® Active Naturals products since my first child was born in 2007. His skin is pretty sensitive, and Aveeno products are the only ones I have been able to use.  They source natural ingredients, and I have found that when it comes to your skin, keeping it as natural as possible is the best way to go. To look your best this winter, nourish and soothe your skin this winter, keep it hydrated and moisturized. No chapped lips or cheeks around here!
