Are your kids getting enough essential vitamins in their daily diets? I am partnering with got milk? to share ways to incorporate milk into our daily diets, a glass of milk is full of the vitamins and minerals that our bodies need!
My kids are probably similar to yours when it comes to food choices. They will eat healthy stuff with a bit of coaxing, but the juices, sweets and processed foods with very little nutritional content are their favorites. I do allow them to eat what they want at times, but there is a balance that they must adhere to. With my 4 year old, it’s the toughest. She is as stubborn as a mule and wants what she wants, when she wants it.
So, how do we make sure that our kids are covered each day? I realize that kids want all sorts of different foods throughout the day, so it’s time to get creative in the kitchen! California milk makes it easy to incorporate throughout the day to get the essentials, it is full of protein, lipids, calcium, vitamin B6, potassium, vitamin A, and much more. Here’ what I started doing:
3 Ways To Make Sure Your Family Is Getting Enough Essential Vitamins
1. Start the day with cereal and milk
This is one of the easiest breakfast meals on the planet! They can get up and make it themselves before leaving for school, plus, milk is involved!
2. Pack dairy products in their lunch
The best way to go is to pack them an ice cold, boxed milk. Let them choose, they may want chocolate milk one day, strawberry the next, so give them a choice that they can make and feel good about. Also, a good mix of fresh fruits, vegetables, cheeses, yogurt, nuts and other whole foods can ensure that they are eating vitamin packed foods at lunch time.
3. Have a glass of milk and cookies as a reward for an accomplishment
Did little Johnny get a good grade on his spelling test? Maybe your daughter cleaned up her toys and listened the first time you asked? Make milk a reward for them by adding cookies! Who can deny cookies and milk?
With such a busy schedule, we really need to build these tips into our day. Between school, work, baseball practice, dance classes, and more, it’s important to fit in proper nutrition. Milk helps me with that, it’s reassuring to know that my kids are getting what they need, making my life as a mom MUCH easier. Plus, the kids LOVE chocolate milk, so it’s not hard to get them into it!
Teaching kids healthy habits now, means they’re more likely to follow healthy habits in the future. For more information about the benefits of drinking milk, visit got milk? online, and stop by their Facebook page to get these cool got milk stickers in March for Nutrition Month!
