Let me just start off this post by giving major props to you mamas (and full time dads) with more than two kids! Baby Girl is just about 9 weeks now and between her and MJ (almost 4), I am more exhausted than I have ever been in my life. If you are contemplating having a second child, be sure you know what you are getting yourself into. Expect to be busy, busy, BUSY! Oh, and be sure to stock up on coffee.
Baby Girl is hungry about every two hours during the day, and sleeps for a good 5 hour span at night before waking for a feeding. Guess who’s feeding her… Yours truly. I love bonding with her through breast feeding, but there are times that I want to just roll over and knock out and let hubs handle it! I try to get stuff done during the day when Baby Girl naps and blog at night after the kids go to bed. 6 hours of sleep has become the new ‘norm’ for me, and anyone who knows me is aware that I am a sleeper (9 hours minimum, please)!
During the day, I have MJ running wild and I just don’t have the time I used to. I feel like I am neglecting him sometimes, I HATE it. When he asks me to play with him, it’s always “Mommy has to feed the baby”, or “Just a minute, let me finish [insert household duty here], then we can play”. By the time I do get a chance to play, either I am deathly exhausted or it’s his bed time. He has even hit me with “Mommy, I’m hungry for dinner now” around 9pm… that’s when I realized my fail of the evening, forgetting to fix his dinner. I try to take him and Baby Girl for a fun day out, but between stopping to feed, change and attend to Baby Girl, and the fact that she absolutely hates riding in the car, it seems to be more of a grueling task than it is fun.
I know it’s all gonna change soon, as Baby Girl gets older, everything will start to mesh together. I just don’t see how you moms with multiple kiddos do it! Where do you find the time? How do you muster up the energy? I met Tara from Deal Seeking Mom on a blogger trip last year and I was blown away to find out that she’s got 5 KIDS. 5 of them. Yet she still runs an amazing site, handles all of her business at home and manages to get out an about to go on blogger trips?!?! Kudos.
All in all, I love my two babies. They are my world. I smile even more every day because of them, something they did, said, made, learned, and especially all of the silly things that MJ comes up with. I am looking forward to two times the fun in the months and years ahead.
Now if I could just find some way not to have to go back to work…
