I am admittedly quite the busy mom. As much as I feel like I am missing out on, I will not skimp on my children. Spending quality time, keeping them clean, happy, educated and preparing healthy foods for my family are at the top of the list.
Canned foods are convenient, friendly on the budget, and contain the many of the essential nutrients needed in a healthy diet. I keep my pantry stocked with the basics, a can of Del Monte corn can make a simple side dish and I love topping a plate of nachos with Goya® black beans! Canned foods are a great and easy way to get them from farm to table in any household.
As a part of my love for cooking with canned foods, I joined a Canbassador program with Cans Get You Cooking, where I will share a bunch of great tips, tricks and recipes to get you cooking with canned foods! Looking for ideas for dinner tonight? Here are a few recipes using canned foods that can get you started on a healthy meal for the family…

Your family will love these vegetarian burgers, made with canned black beans and quinoa and nicely seasoned. Serve on a sesame seed bun and adorn with all of the fixins. This one has a little kick to it, so if you cannot handle spicy, i’d omit the hot sauce.
Cans of tomatoes, black beans, kidney beans and corn make up this flavorful southwestern version of chili. Top this hearty meal with shredded cheddar jack cheese and green onions, perfect for a rainy day.
recipe: Real Mom Kitchen
Ground beef and canned chicken soup, and cream of mushroom set the base of this recipe. I love that you do not have to cook the rice ahead of time. You will bake this dish, casserole style, top with chow mein noodles and serve.
Be sure to follow along with the Canbassador program, I will be posting more recipes and canned food ideas throughout the year!
Disclosure: I am participating in the Canbassador Program with Cans Get You Cooking. I am being compensated for my time, however all opinions are my own. I have cooked with canned food for years!
