Get Cooking With Canned Foods: It’s National Canned Food Month!

I have partnered with Cans Get You Cooking as a Canbassador to share recipes and ideas using canned foods. All opinions are mine, I use canned foods often when I cook to save time and money.

Green beans and bacon Thanksgiving Side Dish

Y’all remember when I shared my Southwestern Chili recipe, bacon and green beans dish, and my easy turkey enchilada casserole last year? What did they have in common? Simplicity, and the use of canned ingredients!

February is National Canned Food Month

It’s National Canned Food month, and the Cans Get You Cooking team is inspiring people to use canned foods with a 30-minute Cooking Channel TV special, ‘Cans Make The Meal‘ with Kelsey Nixon, airing all this month. The host, Nixon, is taking viewers down the canned food aisle, sharing fun canned food facts, and created many delicious recipes inspired by her cantry. Check out these affordable meal ideas using canned foods from Kelsey…

Spice up your favorite ribs and spice them up with delicious garlic, cinnamon, chile powder, and cumin. You’ll make the barbeque sauce from scratch, a sweet and tangy delight that will make the ribs mouth watering!

Charred Corn Salad, Creamy Tomatillo DressingCharred Corn Salad, Creamy Tomatillo Dressing

This dish has a bit of a southwestern flair. You’ll make three parts: tomatillo guacamole, charred corn salad, and creamy tomatillo dressing, sounds yummy! You can use canned corn, garlic, jalapenos, and even canned chile peppers. Yum!

Dos Leches Strawberry CakeDos Leches Strawberry Cake

Good heavens this looks delicious! Sort of a twist on the traditional strawberry shortcake, using pound cake, strawberries, and sweetened condensed milk. I am definitely trying this one!
