Family Afternoon at D Bar: A San Diego Dessert Bar

D Bar Sandiego desserts

Looking for a little slice of heaven on earth? You’re in for a real treat…

When you visit San Diego with your family, of course you’ll check out the San Diego beaches, Sea World, and maybe even the San Diego Zoo. But one thing you might want to pencil in: dessert at D bar!

When you delight your family with this surprise, they will love you forever. D Bar, located in the Hillcrest community of San Diego, boasts delicious dining options, drinks and desserts, the perfect combination for a day out! This cafe style restaurant is a decent size, nice, bright, and roomy with ceiling to floor windows and high ceilings. The food was delicious (try the Crue Fries, D Bar Dates and B.a.c.t Panini), but i’m focusing purely on desserts here.

Enter the restaurant and feast your eyes on this display case of tasty treats… macrons, anyone?

Have a seat and enjoy the ambiance, they have a dining room, a real bar, and a dessert bar where you can watch each creation come to fruition.

…and now, the desserts we tried. Please do not drool, it’s just unattractive!

This is the “Faux Foster Banana Imposter“: rock sugar waffle sammy • chocolate cremeaux • “bananas foster” • salted caramel ice cream • malt creme anglaise

Here’s the “Molten cake thingy that everyone has“: chocolate lava cake • cocoa nib dentelle • raspberry compote • sicilian pistachio ice cream

…last but not least, the Tiramisu Cocktaillight mascarpone creme • chocolate ladyfingers • coffee kahlua punch • mocha french macaron  • espresso granita

The ooohhs and aahhhs commenced as our server brought these to the table. Chef Keegan Gerhard (from the Food Network) is part founder of the establishment and actually served us some of our food! I would have to say that the bananas foster waffle was the best. Next time, we’re definitely looking to try the creme brulee and the housemade churros. I highly recommend D Bar for foodie families like mine, the kids loved everything!
