When we were in San Francisco with Disney for the Rogue One: A Star War Story press day, we interviewed movie cast member Diego Luna! This is Luna’s first Star Wars appearance, he plays Captain Cassian Andor, the lead intelligence officer for the rebellion. He’s a spy, so he’s quite a mysterious man who has to make sure his team works together. Cassian doesn’t like war but he believes in the cause of defeating the enemy.

Diego Luna says that he’s fully involved his family in the process of filming the Rogue One movie. He grew up in the theater and has seen lots of what happens behind the scenes.  I bring my kids to see how we’re doing it, so they can see it more from the perspective I see it, and get less affected by the story.” Luna says that his son is a HUGE Star Wars fan and already knows the whole story line of the movie. “He knows the world of Star Wars better than I do. He’s eight years old, but he has seen everything and, and on this one, I didn’t want it to stop him because, everyone’s gonna be talking about it. I want him to be – to feel part of this, you know? And he’s so excited.

There is one very important reason that Diego Luna of Rogue One wishes to share this experience with his family: he is able to connect with his children as a parent and feel like a kid again at the same time! Luna says that his work is usually something that separates him from his family, that thing that he has to leave for and that the kids know they can’t be a part of. Involving them changes all of this! “I share the excitement with him. When we were watching The Force Awakens, we were there holding hands, and enjoying the moment, you know? It wasn’t me, like, okay, let’s watch this cartoon, and let’s talk about what they’re saying, I wasn’t the dad there. It was two pals watching a film, and that was very sweet.”
