Disney’s John Carter Movie Screening Review: LOVED IT!

I attended Disney’s John Carter movie screening last night, can I just say GO SEE IT?!

If you are into adventure, fun, love and sci-fi fiction, this is the movie for you! Disney does a great job of pulling you into the story, setting the scene of this action packed film on the planet of Barsoom, where John Carter, an Earthling, encounters many of the planets various life forms right in the midst of conflict. Rated PG-13 since it does include violence, I recommend it for older children who can handle it, teens and adults.

The plot:

From Academy Award®–winning filmmaker Andrew Stanton comes John Carter—a sweeping action-adventure set on the mysterious and exotic planet of Barsoom (Mars). The film tells the story of war-weary, former military captain John Carter (Taylor Kitsch), who is inexplicably transported to Mars where he becomes reluctantly embroiled in a conflict of epic proportions amongst the inhabitants of the planet, including Tars Tarkas (Willem Dafoe) and the captivating Princess Dejah Thoris (Lynn Collins). In a world on the brink of collapse, Carter rediscovers his humanity when he realizes that the survival of Barsoom and its people rests in his hands.

My husband thought it might be a bit cheesy, but he saw the trailer and I roped him in. He said he enjoyed the movie, he’s known for falling asleep towards the end (if it sucks) and the man was wide awake!

Action. Adventure. Romance. Humor. I think Disney nailed it. John Carter comes out in theaters nationwide on March 9th, 2012.
