Tom's of Maine Long Lasting Natural Deodorant

Have you ever considered using a natural deodorant, but might be questioning if it actually works?   I have. I am all about reducing the use of chemicals and unnecessary additives in my families daily habits, our household cleaners, foods we eat, and soaps and lotions are the closest to natural that we can get them. I’d like to follow suit with my deodorant, my son is starting to wear it as well and we need something simple and chemical-free.

Tom's of Maine products

Tom’s of Maine makes a long lasting natural deodorant, I’ve seen it in stores so I had to jump at the chance to try it. I will admit, I was skeptical of a deodorant that has no artificial preservatives or fragrances, like many other brands do. That’s how they keep us smelling fresh, right? Tom’s of Maine has an all- natural product line, including toothpaste, mouthwash, dental floss, deodorant, bar soap, body wash, body lotion, hand cream, lip balm and baby care products, formulated by scientists, herbal and dental experts. Let’s give this deodorant stick a try, shall we?

Does Natural Deodorant Really Work-

About Tom’s of Maine Long Lasting Natural Deodorant

The natural ingredients – Preservatives and animal testing are a no-no at Tom’s of Maine. Instead, they use water, vegetable oils, coconut oil, essential oils, sunflower seeds, aloe, citrus fruits, zinc and other ingredients you’d find in the natural world.

The chemicals it does NOT have – Tom’s of Maine long lasting natural deodorant does not use animal derivatives, preservatives, aluminum, petrochemicals, parabens, and no artificial fragrances.

The scented truth – There are quite a few varieties. Refreshing Lemongrass, Wild Lavender, Fresh Apricot, Soothing Calendula, and Honeysuckle Rose are among some of the scent offerings, I would have loved to try the apricot and honeysuckle rose! The unscented is my go-to, the lavender smells good but tends to be quite strong after an hour of wear, and I like the smell of the natural powder but I haven’t worn it yet.

Tom's of Maine Natural deodorant, does it work-

So, did it work? Here’s what I thought about it…

I’ve worn Tom’s of Maine Long Lasting Natural Deodorant for the past 3 days.  Natural products take a while for your skin to get used to, so I took it easy and used it for the first time while at work. Over the course of the weekend, I had also dropped the kids off at school, took a 1-mile light jog around my house, spent the weekend at a baseball tournament, and cooked, cleaned, and did other household chores. And you know what? NO STINK! I was able to go the whole day, each day, without “smelling” myself or feeling sticky. That’s the worst. Each night, I did a “smell test” before showering and I could tell that the scent wore off a bit, but I wasn’t musty.

Tom's of MaineSo yes, IT WORKED!

I still noticed that I sweat, which your body needs to do, but there was no smell. This is not an antiperspirant, it’s a deodorant, so you will sweat. That’s exactly what I need. I’ll have to test the deodorant stick out at the gym during a weightlifting session!

I’m going to grab a stick of Tom’s of Maine unscented deodorant for my son, he’s starting to need it (you should smell him after baseball games) and I want to be sure he’s using the most natural products possible on his skin. If you’re looking for a long lasting natural deodorant that uses ingredients you can stand behind, give Tom’s of Maine a try!
