Dreams of a Big Backyard…

Since my husband and I have had kids, we have yet to have a home with a backyard. We live in a townhouse that we are quickly outgrowing and I have no idea when we might be able to get out with this upside-down mortgage.  I simply can’t wait to upgrade into something a little bigger with a nice, modern backyard for the kids to play, for us to entertain, and for the future swimming pool that I have had my mind set on.

Here’s what I can’t wait to do in our very own family backyard…

Have an amazing swing set, one that is heavy duty enough for the adults (ahem) to climb on as well. I have been a fan of home playsets for a long time and never grew up with one, so I would love my kids to have the chance.

Have a backyard camp out. Pitch a tent, roast s’mores in our fire pit and lay a blanket out on the grass to star gaze at night.

Tie up a hammock between two palm trees. Golden bliss.

Entertain guests at backyard bashes, birthday parties, summer luaus, baby showers, Super Bowl parties and more.

Swim in the pool and warm up in the jacuzzi in our backyard oasis. You know, the kind surrounded with beautiful landscaping and built with massive stones where the jacuzzi spills over into the pool. We’d lay out in our lounge chairs, sip fresh squeezed lemonade and slide into the deep end of the pool on our built-in water slide. Oh, and don’t forget about the poolside grill and bar, fully stocked at all times 🙂

Go wild and burn some calories on our trampoline. We’d all love this one!

Maintain a little vegetable garden, maybe along the side of the house.

What are some fun things that you do in your backyard with the family?

  • I dream of a sunny backyard! We have one, but we’re built into a big hill with lots of trees so there isn’t much space for gardening. My husband built a deck into the hill to expand out usable space (though it took him 4 years to finish it!).

  • We live in a house in the country on about 1/2 acre, although with 5 boys, it’s not near enough! We like to play outdoor games and on the swingset. The boys ride their bikes and scooters a lot through the yard too.
