Visit Camarillo, CA

My family absolutely loves traveling together, any chance we get, we’re on a mission to find an awesome new place to visit and discover together! It’s seriously the way we bond. We got the chance to take a road trip up the coast of California from San Diego to visit Camarillo, CA, a small coastal town about an hour north of Los Angeles. Yep, just hit the 101 North/Southbound and you’ll be ready to discover the quaint little town on Camarillo!

There are so many unique things to do here, the number of restaurants, shops, parks, wineries, farms, golf courses, museums, special events, and nightlife will definitely keep you busy! Whether you’re headed towards LA, or up to the Central Coast area with the kids in tow, here are some family-friendly activities in Camarillo that you simply can’t miss.

8 Family Friendly Activities in Camarillo, CA You’ll Love!

1. Visit the McGrath Family Farm

This family-owned, sustainable farm operates year-round, offering the best seasonal organic fruits and veggies in the area. As the seasons roll around, they have U-pick strawberries, heirloom tomatoes, and pumpkins available. My kids loved choosing their own pumpkins growing on a vine, you’ll be able to do the same when you visit this fall! Take a farm tour, buy fresh flowers, shop at the small market for fresh produce, and enjoy the animal petting zoo area that kids also love. This was one of our favorite family-friendly activities in Camarillo.

2.  Jump to your heart’s content at Sky High Sports Trampoline Park

This place is perfect to let the kids use some energy and jump the night away! Wall to wall trampolines, laser tag, dodge ball, wipe out, the rope swing, and slam dunk are fun activities that my kids loved! If you go on weekend evenings, expect a super fun glow in the dark jumping experience with a DJ pumping out the tunes!

3. Take a tour of WWII Commemorative Air Force Museum

We took a tour of this museum and it was amazing! The CAF is dedicated to preserving the history of WWII. Get a close up view of the actual planes and weapons used during WWII, and you’ll visit multiple hangars with fighter planes and see lots of memorabilia from that time period. We even got to climb inside one of the transporter war planes from WWII. It’s absolutely HUGE!

4. Boutique restaurants and shops: Take an afternoon stroll through Old Town Camarillo

Old Town Camarillo is such a cute little area, it stretches down Ventura Blvd and has a sweet old fashioned charm about it! There are lots of cute little boutiques and eateries, I recommend stopping in at Rocket Fizz for some old fashioned candies and soda pops. When the lights come on at dusk, the whole street looks so beautiful!

5. Hike the ocean view trails at Point Mugu State Park

Enjoy 5 gorgeous miles of ocean coastline as you stroll along the sandy beach. Discover nature and wildlife, hiking and biking trails, surfing, horseback riding, scuba and snorkeling, geocaching, and even campsites! No matter what you choose to do, you’ll see spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean pretty much wherever you turn.

6. Play all day at Zander’s Game House

Move over video games, this place has got some potential! I love the concept of this game house, choose from over 700 board games and play all day long. My daughter and I discovered new games and played a few favorites. First, we played Candy Land and Kerplunk, and the owner taught us a new card game called Wig Out and then showed us a fun Star Wars Chewbacca game! Games are stacked up the walls, I am pretty sure there’s not a single game missing from this collection. Highly recommended!

7. Stop by The Camarillo Bird Museum

The Western Foundation of Vertebrate Zoology runs the bird museum, focusing on the research of different species of birds and preservation of the history of bird eggs and nests from around the world. Learn about the different types of birds through exhibits and see them up close, there is currently a baby condor nest that they’ve been watching on camera in the wild. It’s very neat to learn all about the various bird species worldwide!

8. Shop till you drop at the Camarillo Premium Outlets

All of your favorite store outlets are here and the prices are right! Shop and dine here at the Camarillo Premium Outlets, high-quality shops you know and love await – Nike, Michael Kors, Luluemon, Kate Spade, and more. Many people stop in Camarillo just for the outlets, as they are pretty popular! If you’re heading over there soon, you can take advantage of their extended holiday hours and get all of your holiday shopping done.

Bonus: If you’re visiting Camarillo in the fall, don’t miss the annual Adolfo Camarillo Birthday Celebration at the Camarillo Ranch House! This is a fun event complete with food trucks, mariachi performances, birthday cake, kids activities, and tours of the mansion. Such a fun event! The kids loved the giant tree and the dancers!
