Who’s already into the holiday spirit? We sure are! Our home is decorated, we’ve done lots of Christmas shopping for our family, and we are enjoying the festivities of the holiday season. One thing that we try to do each year is to find ways to give back to those in our community who are less fortunate than we are. It is a great time to be thankful for all that we have and share a little bit of it with others.
How do you give back for the holidays?
Giving back during the holidays can be done in so many different ways. Some people like to feed the homeless at shelters in their neighborhood or donate to local churches, and others participate in toy drives. Our holiday season is extremely busy, so we have decided to make our donation this year through AmazonSmile.
Our holiday giving ideas
If you’re looking for ways to give back during the holiday season, it is really easy to do so with the Amazon! They offer three easy ways to donate to your favorite charities and organizations while you’re there: AmazonSmile, AmazonSmile Charity Lists, and donating through Alexa.
- AmazonSmile allows you to donate a portion of the price of your purchases on Amazon to the charity of your choice!
- AmazonSmile Charity Lists – Search for a cause or for your favorite charities and organization’s “wish lists” where you can buy their top wished-for items.
- Donating through Alexa – You can make a donation directly through your Alexa device. Just say, “Alexa, I want to make a donation” and you’re on your way!
We did quite a bit of shopping for holiday gifts on Amazon this year, so it was only right that we select a charity to benefit from some of our purchases. Through AmazonSmile we chose my kids’ elementary school PTA foundation to donate to. We have so many teachers who are in need of classroom materials, and the students will ultimately be the ones to benefit. We not only chose several items from their AmazonSmile Charity List, but a portion of our eligible purchases went directly to benefit the school’s PTA as well!
To donate an item on an AmazonSmile Charity List, all you have to do is navigate to the Charity List of your choice (you can search for your preferred charity), click “Add to Cart” on each item you choose to purchase for the organization and check out. The items will be sent on your behalf, it’s that easy!
