Y’all remember when I told you all about The Boxtrolls movie and ‘Build A Boxtroll’ sweepstakes? Well, we decided to get in on the fun and create our own toddler friendly Boxtroll!
I wanted to try making our Boxtroll with simple materials that young kids could use. My kids just had to participate, here’s what we’re using to make this easy craft:
We decided to use toilet paper rolls because they are easy to cut, decorate and manipulate, and they are already cardboard box colored! Plus, we’re reusing household items, so it’s a win-win.
We cut 1/3 of the roll off that we’ll use as the head. A little paint, hole punching, and pipe cleaner limbs will do the trick!

About the Boxtrolls Movie:
From the creators of ParaNormal and Coraline, The Boxtrolls is a fun, witty and loving movie that features a quirky family of Boxtrolls, which are creatures that live beneath the streets of the city of Cheesebridge. They adopt and raise a human orphan boy, Eggs, in their home, so his Boxtroll family is all he knows. The town’s villain, Archibald Snatcher, wants to get rid of The Boxtrolls, so Eggs must come out into the world above the streets and jump into action to save his Boxtroll family.
Stay tuned for part two where we will reveal our final creation!
I have partnered with Focus Features and Social Moms in a sponsored campaign to share information about The Boxtrolls. All opinions are my own.
