No Resolutions Here: 3 Lifestyle Standards to Take Into 2015

It’s 2015, and I am so ready for a fresh start to a new year! I am a part of the Kellogg’s #GreatStarts program where I share lots of fun ideas and experiences, I am ready for a joyous and healthful beginning!

happy 2015

2014 has been the most stressful year of my entire life. STRESSFUL. A whirlwind of changes and emotions took over for the majority of the year, and honestly, it wasn’t until the last few months of it that I felt relief. With that said, I bid a firm and aloof good riddance to 2014, I will not miss you!

I will not lie; I have made resolutions for the new year in the past, like tons of people do, and they rarely, if ever, stick. I think most resolutions fall through the cracks because it takes much more than the turn of a new year to be serious about a lifestyle change. Some people really need a good ol’ slap in the face to kick their butts into gear. I strongly believe that each individual experience on this planet is how you make it, this past summer is when it all hit me. Like always, He was right on time.

So, no resolutions for me. I am so happy to be able to watch a new year unfold and blossom. How refreshing is it to see a brand new start? It’s symbolic, in my opinion, but please, take the symbolism and make it your own! Here are my three personal lifestyle standards that I will carry with me through this new year…

1. Living with passion, love, joy, kindness and happiness

I have been looking for the good in everything I do, and have reduced what I do to the activities that feed my soul. Seeing the people in the places I wish to, saying NO a whole lot more often, giving my all for those situations deemed worthy, and, looking for the joy in all that I do. Seek the positive, drop the negative. I fully intend to keep this up, it’s been exquisite, so far!

2. An active, healthful body and mind

I have been working out quite a bit for the past 6 months or so, it’s amazing the way cardio and a little sweat can make you feel! I have felt so invigorated, fresh, and alive, and I have stuck with it. Keeping healthy and active is so purifying, eating the foods that nourish the body with vitamins, minerals and whole grains is equally important. I like to start my day with a bowl of Kellogg’s Raisin Bran, topped with fresh berries and almond milk. The combination of cereal and milk is packed with essentials and gives your body the fuel it needs to last through the day. Now don’t get me wrong, i’ll still be indulging 🙂

3. Quality interactions and relationships

There comes a point in time where your circle grows so small that you can literally count them on both hands. This happened for me a while ago, but I still have a tendency to hold on to people and situations who don’t really need to be around. We, as humans, can’t please everyone, all of the time. Now, i’m focusing on pleasing myself.  I have a special relationship with those that are close to me, some undefined, others are clear as day. I am grateful for positive interactions with those I cross paths with, old and new.

Well, there you have it. Some say that these are resolutions, but how could they be if i’ve already started months ago? The theme for the year: seek love and joy, meaningful relationships, get outside, eat well and live well. I’m inspired, and super excited to see what 2015 has to offer!

Let’s own 2015, y’all!
