Disney’s ABC invited us to visit the set of Dancing With The Stars in Hollywood to watch the live show! It was an awesome experience, I definitely enjoyed the performances and I know exactly who i’ll be rooting for! Read on to see what it was like…
Last week, I was lucky enough to join a great group of bloggers at CBS Studios in Studio City, CA to attend a live taping of Dancing with the Stars! The show is in it’s 21st season, and the upbeat mix of Jazz, Salsa, Tango, Ballroom, and other dancing styles make this a long standing family favorite. After watching the semifinals I can’t wait to see which duo will prevail and go home with the Mirrorball Trophy!
Before the show started, they gave us a fun audience warm up that included a few fun dance songs, namely ‘The Whip and Nae Nae‘ and ‘The Cha Cha Slide’. People were up on the dance floor shaking their tail feathers, the same exact floor that would soon be used for the show!
A quick show recap: There are 4 couples left in the running to win this season, after Tamar Braxton had to withdraw for medical reasons. They each did multiple routines, beginning with a duo, then some of them did a dance battle and finally, a creative trio.
- Bindi Irwin and Derek Hough
- Alex Skarlatos and Lindsay Arnold
- Carlos PenaVega and Witney Carson
- Nick Carter and Sharna Burgess
I’ll tell you now: Bindi and Derek are my absolute favorite! If you missed their contemporary jazz trio routine with Mark Ballas, WATCH IT. It was simply breathtaking! They are both naturals, and while the other couples did well, I feel like Bindi and Derek dominated without question. Luckily, nobody was eliminated this time around due to Tamar’s withdraw. I believe Bindi and Derek can win this thing!
Being at the show was really a surreal experience. The ballroom is 3 stories high and reminds me of a theater with the stage in the very center of the room. With a live taping, there is lots of cheering and clapping, and there are no retakes so everything has to be done just right. From the many set changes during commercial break to the dancers practicing behind the scenes before they’re live, it’s amazing to see how it’s all done!
Don’t miss the show this week, it’s the shows finale, and we’re getting two nights! Be sure to watch Dancing With The Stars Monday 11/23 at 8pm /7pm CST, and Tuesday 11/24 at 9pm / 8pm CST. I can’t wait to see who goes home with the Mirrorball Trophy, I hope the judges are fair and the popular vote really shines on the best dancers!
Who are you rooting for to win this season?
