Getting Parenting Right: You’re Doing Just Fine

How do you know that you are doing “ok” as a mom? Are there things I am forgetting? Do I play with my kids for enough time per day? Did they get enough of each nutrient and vitamin in each meal today? Should I discipline them harder, or a little more lenient? Will they be ok if I haven’t read to them in the past week?

Unfortunately, there are no rules, no guidelines when it comes to parenting. Wouldn’t that make it so much easier?! Probably not, so relax a little. I’d say that’s the beauty of it, you are free to set your own in a way that suits your lifestyle. If your children are clean, fed, well rested, happy and educated, i’d say you’re doing a pretty good job. It doesn’t get easier than that.

Johnson's Baby Cares Mothers Day Card

The next time your toddler is having a tantrum on an airplane, or your teenager says “I hate you”, just remember, you’re not alone. It happens to the best of us, kids act out when they aren’t getting their way so you must be doing something right. I have yet to get to the teen stages, but I am sure I am in for a wild ride! Take this as a bout of encouragement from me, you can do it, and you will. You ARE a good parent!

Johnson's Baby Care, Save The Children

If you know a mom (or dad!) who needs a little reassurance, especially with a new baby, take the time to show them you’re there by sending a Johnson’s Care Card! See, this is totally free for you, but benefits a whole lot more than just the recipient. The Johnson’s® Baby CARES program has partnered with Save the Children® and together, they are working with parents and caregivers to hlp provide a better future for kids through early childhood education. When you send a care card through Facebook and it is liked or shared, Johnson’s® Baby will donate $100 to Save The Children® fund, up to $150,000! Such a great way to send a positive message of encouragement!

Who’s the deserving mom you would send a card to?

Visit and send a card today! A positive message can really go a long way.

  • Hello Deanna, awesome post to read. Parenting is a great responsibility.

When my first baby took his first step I was so proud you would think he was the first child ever to start walking. It didn’t take me long to realize his mobility brought a whole host of problems with it.
