Do you need quick, last minute Thanksgiving dinner food ideas? This bacon green bean side dish is sure to please your guests this Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you’re all enjoying your day with family and friends, and most of all, good FOOD!
I needed to make a vegetable side dish, our broccoli cheese casserole was forgotten and burnt to a crisp. I scoured the cabinets to see what I could make, finding a can of green beans. Ok, that’ll work, but plain old green beans wouldn’t do it. I decided to adopt the idea I used in my corn and bacon saute… holy moly was it good!
Bacon Green Bean Side Dish
- 1 – 14 1/2 oz. can Del Monte whole green beans, drained
- 6 slices of bacon, diced
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup diced onion
The purpose of this recipe is ease and taste, and I promise you this one is not lacking! All you have to do is saute the bacon, garlic and onions in a large sauce pan until the bacon is almost completely cooked. Add the green beans and stir for a minute until combined. Reduce heat to low and cover, simmer for about 20 minutes or until the green beans are tender. Stir every 5 minutes and re-cover.
I love that my kids were fans of this bacon green bean side dish. I am sure that it is because of the bacon, but i’m not complaining! This recipe makes about 6 servings, so i’d double it for larger families or left overs. Give this Thanksgiving side dish idea a try, it is definitely a crowd pleaser!
Enjoy your Thanksgiving dinner!
