I’d better get my food prep skills up to par, it looks like I will be getting the hang of packing a school lunch for MJ everyday in the next few weeks! I am excited for him to start kindergarten, he is too. I refuse to send him to school with horrific food. Here are a few lunch box food ideas for a happy, healthy child…
Healthy Foods: On the go favorites in my household include turkey avocado wraps, pita and hummus, pasta salad, baked chicken breast strips, and tomato mozzarella sandwiches. Snack wise, we love to eat various fresh fruits, whole grain crackers, cheese cubes and carrot sticks, and cucumber slices. All of these choices are a great start. Save the pizza, chips and cookies for a special treat.
Beverages: Keep your child hydrated with a healthy drink choice. I am personally a fan of Horizon Milk and Odwalla Smoothies for Kids, both are great alternatives to sugary, empty calorie juice boxes. Those cute miniature water bottles are great too!
Wet Ones: I believe that the traditional napkin just won’t do. Those sticky, sometimes slimy fingers will touch surfaces and attract germs like magnets. Do you honestly think they’ll head over to the bathroom to wash their hands before or after lunch? HA! Packing Wet Ones antibacterial wipes in the lunch box will remind children to clean their hands before and after eating, all while eliminating the icky germs and sticky mess.
If your kids are headed to school in a couple of weeks, grab a pack of Wet Ones individually wrapped wipes. Perfect for travel and on the go kiddos, namely our little school going monsters! Here’s a little more info on Wet Ones Antibacterial Wipes:
