For the Rice Krispies Treats
- 6 cups Kellogg’s Rice Krispies cereal
- 3 tbsp. butter
- 1 10 oz. package mini marshmallows
- 6 oz. semisweet chocolate chips 1/2 bag
Turkey Decoration
- candy corn
- edible googly eyes these are Wilton, get them here
- lollipop sticks
- tube of brown frosting or extra chocolate chips if possible, for kids to use
Melt the butter in a large saucepan. Add the marshmallows and melt the mixture completely. Slowly stir in the chocolate chips, leaving a handful aside for later.
Remove the pan from heat and slowly stir in the Kellogg’s Rice Krispies cereal with a spatula, making sure they are all coated with the marshmallow mixture.
Transfer Rice Krispies mixture into your cookie sheet, completely covering the surface and pressing it along the edges. Cover the mixture with a piece of wax paper, and roll gently over the wax paper-covered mixture with a rolling pin until flat. Allow Rice Krispies treats to cool for 20 minutes.
Cut your chocolate Rice Krispies treats into 3-inch rectangles and place a lollipop stick into the bottom of each, about half of the way up.
Melt extra chocolate chips into a saucepan. This will be your “glue” to stick on the candy to create the turkey. Dab the melted chocolate onto each area where you’d like to stick the candy corn. Once you’ve put on the feathers, eyes & beak, let treats set for about an hour. Store in an air-tight container.
