I got a chance to take my family to Mia Francesca Del Mar, an Italian restaurant in San Diego. Who could pass up homemade spaghetti and meat balls?

Mia Francesca Del Mar, a family friendly establishment originating in Chicago’s contemporary dining scene, features delicious rustic Italian cuisine, using the freshest ingredients available. Chef Scott Harris often creates a new menu from scratch every so often, so you can bet you’ll get some of the best pastas, pizzas, and antipastis available. The newest location is right in my backyard, in San Diego’s Del Mar Highlands Town Center.

The atmosphere is very quaint, casual and contemporary, boasting a large open patio, indoor trattoria style dining, a full bar and a 50 person private dining room. Wine glasses adorn each table, so be prepared to order a glass to enjoy with your hearty meal! Here’s what we ate…

The kids love Italian food!

The kids had linguine with meatballs and a kids pizza, while my husband and I shared our own pizza. We created it, this one has Italian sausage, artichoke, basil, red onion.

As you can see, there were other families with children in the Del Mar restaurant, so we felt right at home. The food was very good and we will definitely go back. Also, Mondays are kids eat free and Tuesdays are Prix Fixe 3-course Menu days at only $15 for adults and $10 for kids.

If you are ever in the Del Mar area of San Diego, make it a point to enjoy an Italian dinner at Mia Francesca’s! Experience lovely Italian fare at decent prices, I recommend the bruschetta pictured above as a started. They also have locations in the Chicago, IL area, Raleigh, NC and Madison, WI.
