Would You Go On A Luxury Camping Trip? My Family Did At KOA!

What if you could take your family camping without the normal camping fuss? Well, you can at Kampgrounds of America! Call me crazy, but I never knew that camping existed in a luxury form. Glam + camping = GLAMPING!

As a Travel Mamas guest writer, I was able to hit the road and take my family to KOA Campgrounds in Ventura, CA. At first, I didn’t really know if I wanted to go. Any vacation or travel tends to be a lot more work than play for parents. Then, I learned about their luxury cabins, which sleep 6 people and have everything you need, glamour teepees, watering hole, and fun activities. No packing up bedding, kitchen, chairs, grills, or tents? We’ll have our own kitchen, bathroom and air conditioning? SOLD! It was our last summer hurrah before school started, we had a blast!

Check out the photos below, you’ll want to check out the KOA Campgrounds location in your area!

Tree Top Lodge: Our luxury cabin

The interior. Features a full kitchen, private bathroom, bedroom plus loft, pull out couch, a dining area, flat screen TV, linens, lovely patio with propane grill, and air conditioning.

Glamour Teepees: stocked with mattresses and linens, sleeps 4.

There were plenty of activities available for the whole family. My favorite was the zip line, Baby Girl was able to ride with me! KOA Ventura also has a giant jumping pillow, rock climbing wall, 4-wheeler bikes, a playground and arts and crafts. They are planning on adding a swimming pool, this will be a wonderful addition for hot days.

…and we’re off!

Riding the 4-wheel pedal bikes…

Big Foot’s Watering Hole at the Santa Paula Creek: lots of fun swimming and checking out small fish, frogs and dragonflies!

The Big Foot Night Walk. This was a fun tale about Big Foot sightings in the wild, tree scratches, foot prints, etc. Do you think we saw him? Note: not for young children or those who are scared easily.

Campfire and S’mores: Of course! We were able to roast them in our own fire pit, right in front of our cabin. Bring your own fire wood or buy it at the general store.

Beautiful, bright morning 🙂

Our little friend: This wild peacock came to visit us on our patio deck. There is a family of about 10-15 of them that roam the campsite!

We had a blast at KOA, it definitely felt like we were far from home and immersed into nature. Such fun times with the whole family! Read my extensive review on the Travel Mamas website and visit KOA online for more information and locations in the U.S. and Canada.
