Visit Antigua & Barbuda

If you are looking for a gorgeous Caribbean island vacation destination full of sand, sun, and surf, the island of Antigua is the place to go! Antigua and Barbuda are two separate islands in the same small nation located between the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, and they were once both wonderful, lively tourist destinations. As you’re probably already aware, the island of Barbuda was absolutely devastated by Hurricane Irma, while Antigua, just 40 miles away, suffered no damage from the hurricane.

All Barbuda residents were evacuated to Antigua, as they have all lost their homes and possessions, and literally had nowhere to go. As a very small country, they do not have abundant funds and resources to rebuild Barbuda quickly, and they do depend upon tourism dollars to fund much of their economic efforts.

Who doesn’t love a beautiful beach? Please consider adding Antigua to your travel bucket list, as they have fabulous resorts, 365 pristine beaches (yes, you read that right!), unique culture, delicious restaurants, and Caribbean cuisine, plenty of attractions on land and sea, amazing friendly people, and you will be helping their economy and efforts to rebuild Barbuda!

The VC Bird International Airport is open and fully operational, and I have seen flights (Nov 2017) from Los Angeles in the $400 range, and NYC area in the $300 range as well. When is the best time to go to Antigua?

Antigua is a great place to visit year-round, but there may be some times and seasons that you’d prefer more than others. If you have limited vacation time available and want to visit during popular holidays and prime weather months, late November through April are the busier months, but will be perfect for you as long as you plan ahead.

If you’re a budget traveler, the best time to visit would be in the off-season when there is less demand and prices are lower. The off-season in Antigua is late May through early November and is also hurricane season. The shoulder season is usually my favorite time to visit any destination as the seasons change. In Antigua, it would be in between the high and off seasons in June and November.
