Are you a baseball fan? My son sure is, and he loves taking MLB stadium tours. Check out our Safeco Field tour review, home of the MLB’s Seattle Mariners!

Our Seattle Safeco Field tour

I don’t know about you all, but my kid LOVES baseball. He’s been playing since he was 4 years old and has decided that it’s his #1 sport. One day, when he was 5, he visited Petco Park, our San Diego Padres baseball stadium, and took the behind-the-scenes tour. He said that he wanted to tour every single MLB stadium, and he’s well on his way! We have been to about 9 or 10 stadiums, including the Wrigley Field Stadium tour and now, we can add the Seattle Mariners stadium to that list!

When we visited Downtown Seattle, Washington, we made sure to get our tickets for the day’s Safeco Field tour. It was August 6, 2016, which also happened to be the weekend that they were retiring Ken Griffey Jr’s number 24!  It was so neat to be able to go into the Seattle Mariners and visitors dugouts, and check out everything behind the scenes where the players warm-up, the press box, the umpires box, and even walk right onto the field!

When you go on a Safeco Field tour, there’s so much to see and tons of history and little tidbits to learn. I will try my best to show you all in photos, but you have got to make it a point to go on one of these tours the next time you’re in Seattle.

The first thing we got to do was head down to the field level. We walked around the warning track (dirt area), the grass is manicured to perfection and is off-limits.

The stadium looks so much bigger from the field, it’s incredible! As we enjoyed our time and took some photos, our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the stadium’s operations and even a little bit of historical facts and figures.

Here’s the Mariners dugout. The field was being prepped for a game, so there’s not much happening in there in this photo. It was exciting to sit down there and take it all in!

On our way up to the press box, we passed this gorgeous bat chandelier. It’s made of 1,000 resin-used bats, such an awesome display of art! You can find the bat chandelier at the Home Plate Gate, right at the center of the rotunda entrance.

In the photo below, you can see my family in the press box. The view from up there is so cool, it’s like an aerial shot of the whole stadium!

At the top level of the stadium, there are lots of fun activities for kids. When we were there, they had all of the Ken Griffey Jr. displays set up, plus they have a baseball diamond set up behind the big SAFECO FIELD sign for kids to play on. My son tested his skills at the 401-foot wall, he would have robbed a home run!

And last but not least, we were taken to the Seattle Mariners press conference room where they do their post-game interviews. Look, he’s doing his very first MLB press conference!

Visit Safeco Field, Home of the Seattle Mariners

We had an awesome tour at the Seattle Mariners’ home stadium, it’s so neat to see how things happen behind the scenes. If we hadn’t taken this tour on a game day, we could have checked out the visitor’s clubhouse and the Owners Suite. This field is well equipped with fabulous amenities, real grass, and a retractable roof, it is one of the nicest fields I have ever been to. We all had a great time, I hope this Safeco Field tour review helps you decide to visit!
