Take A Florence Bike Tour With Wine Tasting Through Tuscany
We took the San Gimignano to Siena bike tour, one of the easier, family friendly routes. We do not bike often at home, so this was perfect for us! This Florence bike wine tour visited 3 different places:
Florence to San Gimignano
You’ll be picked up from your hotel in Florence by the Bike Florence and Tuscany team and taken about 20 minutes away to San Gimignano. The tour begins here at this gorgeous old medieval city, it’s original brick structure looks like the walls of a castle, but it’s full of specialty shops restaurants, cafes and and people! Stroll around the area for about an hour to have a cappuccino, taste the local gelato, and explore the walled city.

Then, to Monteriggioni for wine tasting
Then, we hopped on our bikes and headed down hill from San Gimignano for a Tuscan bike ride! After going through a few neighborhoods, past some vineyards, and on some dirt roads and hills, we made it to Monteriggioni. This is a castle high up on a platform that is virtually untouched. It’s church, shops, and vendor booths are surrounded by square concrete walls, and there is a little winery inside that we spent some time at. They pride themselves with the wine they produce, most wineries in Tuscany are long time family businesses that produce Chianti and other wine varieties.

Last, a bike ride to Siena
The last stop on this Florence bike tour with wine tasting is in Siena. We took our last ride from Monteriggioni village to Siena through the beautiful Tuscan hills. This little city is also a UNESCO World Heritage site, it is a very popular destination due to it’s ancient age, location, and preserved charm. We strolled through this beautiful town, had lunch at a local pizza spot, enjoyed the shops and cafes through the turns and twists of the medieval walls, and explored the Piazza del Campo (a large plaza) and the Duomo di Siena (the Siena Cathedral).

Wine tasting and Tuscany bike tours are a must-do!
We had such a great time biking the hills of Tuscany with Bike Florence & Tuscany! I do have to say that although this is a family friendly tour, I did find myself out of breath on a lot of the uphill climbs. The bikes are well equipped for this, but my lungs were not! I recommend this for fit families and children 10+ with decent enough stamina to last the whole day on a bike. There is a van available on some of the tours to help riders who need it.

I went to Tuscany for a short time on a longer trip in high school and fell in love. But, I feel like I barely got to experience it. It is on my bucket list to go back with my husband and really savor the area. A bike tour like this would definitely be on the to-do list!
Absolutely gorgeous! We just took a trip to France last month and enjoyed the wine there! There were bikes for rent in certain places but we never did it but it did look like fun! We are thinking of going to Italy for our trip next summer!
