Longing for an escape?
The cold weather has GOT to be killing y’all! I mean, you’re couped up in the house, heater on blast, covering every little part of your body with layers, heavy storm warnings, fighting wind, rain and snow to run errands, shoveling snow, and generally not being able to be comfortable outside. What?! No thanks! Not to brag, but in San Diego, our average temperature in January is 65 degrees. It has been in the 70’s lately, I just can’t imagine how you all deal with this!
If it’s time for a vacation, head out West to California! Being from San Diego, I know Southern California pretty well. Pretty much anywhere you go in SoCal will do, you can enjoy beautiful weather, beaches, activities, all without leaving the country. I would personally recommend the Newport Beach area, it is the perfect family friendly travel destination!
The last time we went to Newport Beach, it was a family affair. There are plenty of gorgeous beach front hotels and resorts, shops, restaurants, water recreation, and so much more for everyone to enjoy. We decided to visit last minute, so we booked a room at the Radisson Newport Beach. This three star hotel is one of the more affordable ones in the area, it was perfect for our budget and had all of the amenities we needed. The comfortable beds, heated pool and spa, onsite restaurant and cocktail lounge, room service, free parking, and fitness center were right up our alley. Although this hotel was not on the beach, we were happy with our choice to stay here.
Plenty of wild and crazy splashing occurred in this pool, by the kids and mom and dad!
We walked down the boardwalk at the beach, played in the sand, ate lunch at Joe’s Crab Shack, and walked over the ocean on the popular Newport Beach Pier.
You can see just how popular Newport Beach is, check out the people on the beach!
We did not have a lot of time, we stayed for a weekend and there are so many more things that we wanted to do! I think we’ll plan another weekend to visit, we’ll stay at a beach front property, ride the Ferris wheel at Balboa Fun Zone, do a little shopping at Fashion Island, and maybe do some kayaking or paddle boarding. I really want to try the jetpack ride, where you are propelled high in the sky over the water! If my husband and I ever come without the kiddos, we’ll visit one of their world class spas, maybe do some wine tasting, and charter a yacht for a romantic sail on the ocean.
Newport Beach is a gorgeous, upscale destination, you’ll love it, I promise! There’s so much to do, see and explore at this elegant oasis. Learn more about Newport Beach, go to VisitNewportBeach.com.

I live in Texas so California would be a big change. We have been talking about a road trip so we might come that way since my kids love the beach!!
I’m flying home to Los Angeles next week and plan on visiting Balboa Island, haven’t been there in years!
Looks like a super destination for vacationing. Wish I could be there now!
