I am all about a good meal, so when House of Blues wanted me to try out their new menu, created by a celebrity chef, with live music, on their dime… I was all for it!
I have been to the House of Blues plenty of times, for various live events and the gospel brunch (a must-see!), but I had never dined there otherwise. Crossroads is their everyday restaurant, and it has gotten a delicious menu make over, and my my my is it worth it! Celebrity chef Aaron Sanchez of the Food Network has taken over the kitchen, used his creativity with food and put it to work! With American selections, seafood, vegetarian options, and Southern classics, there is truly something for everyone at Crossroads.
Here’s what we devoured politely consumed…
For starters, we ordered the jalapeno skillet cornbread with maple butter
There was also a voodoo jumbo shrimp appetizer, sauteed in an amber beer reduction and served over corn bread. I am not even a shrimp eater, but this…
For our entrees, we ordered the blackened shrimp salad…
… and the St. Louis ribs, slow cooked with adobo spices and served with baked beans and cole slaw.
Surprisingly, our stomachs weren’t too full for dessert. That’s probably because we read ‘bourbon bread pudding with bananas, caramel sauce and whipped cream, ala mode’ and we had to try it!
Everything was delicious,voodoo shrimp and the ribs were my favorites. Next time, I want to try the jambalaya, buttermilk fried chicken, lobster mac and cheese, or the basil pesto and tomato flat bread.
If you’ve been looking for a taste of Southern food in San Diego, House of Blues Crossroads is it! Dine next to a live band, grab a drink at the bar, and enjoy yourself, we sure did.
