I had the pleasure of staying at MELIA Vacation Club Cozumel a few months ago, we enjoyed the Christmas holiday and rang in the new year in paradise! Cozumel is an island that is located off of the east coast of Mexico in the Caribbean Sea, it is one of the provinces of Quintana Roo. I recommend the island for all typed of travelers, Cozumel is safe, well developed and thrives off of tourism – it’s truly an island paradise!

MELIA Vacation Club Cozumel has everything you need in an all inclusive vacation, it’s location on the beach is perfect, it’s close to the airport, as well as the Downtown San Miguel area, which boasts restaurants, shopping, nightlife and the cruise port at the marina. Excellent amenities, activities and the wonderful staff and service make this one of our favorite Cozumel all inclusive resorts to stay at!

The resort

MELIA Cozumel is located on the west side of the island, it had 140+ rooms, some garden facing, some ocean view. There are several restaurants with various types of fare, 2 pools, a spa, fitness center, and a professional gold course. There is even a Kids’ Club, a children’s pirates playground, tennis and soccer courts, video games zone, batting cages, archery, mini golf and access to the lovely white sand beach is available at all hours of the day!

Here’s the adults pool with a swim up bar…

There is a family of iguanas that live on the resort, this one thought it was hiding – it froze still when we walked by!

There are 143 of them, and they are very nice. Views include garden, pool and ocean. “Available with two double beds or a king size bed, plus furnished balcony or terrace with table and chairs, TV, individually controlled air conditioning, telephone, safe, full bathroom with bathtub, hairdryer and Meliá bathroom amenities.” I stayed in a pool view room and it was really nice to be able to look out and sit on the patio and people watch!

I love the architecture of the hotel. This hallway to some of the rooms was my absolute favorite. I love the bright yellow arches!

The entertainment

There is always something happening at the MELIA Vacation Club Cozumel! Whether it’s tennis lessons, pool water aerobics, or salsa dancing night, there is an event happening each day that you will love! Kids can drive mini remote control cars at the Kids Car Ed highway, visit the game room and play pool, chess, or Xbox, practice their swing at the miniature golf course, and the whole family can try jet skiing, snorkeling, kayaking and more. When I was there, we enjoyed a traditional Mexican performance and watched pool Olympic games from our patio. So fun!

The food and drinks

Chips and guacamole, Melia Cozumel Beach Resort, honey+lime

There are 3 restaurants and 3 bars, and you can expect all types of cuisine on any given day, and all of the top shelf liquor you desire! Yes, it’s all included. I do have to mention that the food wasn’t very eventful, it lacked overall flavor and the chips and guacamole were my favorite dish. We ended up eating here about half the time, we visited the Downtown are a few times and ate there, also. On the flip side, the mango margaritas were great, and the special seafood buffet they offered on New Years eve was spectacular! The best restaurant we ate at was Cafe Parisio, a more formal sit down dinner experience, and the bartender at El Embarcadero Beach Bar was AWESOME!

The service

Amazing, all around. The staff are available 24/7 to assist in any matter. From the restaurants, to the maintenance, activity leaders, room service and front desk, we experienced excellent service on all fronts! Wifi is available for free in the lobby, and you can take advantage of concierge, laundry, child care and wedding planning, and tour and travel services to help you book your scuba or catamaran snorkeling tour in Cozumel!
