Being a good mom is hard work, and on TV, that’s no exception! When I was in LA with Disney last month, I got a chance to check out some of ABC’s TV shows, tour the studios, and even meet some of the celebrity cast members. In addition to walking through the sets of General Hospital and Grey’s Anatomy, we were treated to a special Moms of ABC Mixer and reception on a roof top terrace at the Walt Disney Studios lot with some of the moms from ABC’s hit television shows.
Some of these ladies are moms on their shows, and even moms in real life. It was pretty cool to be able to mingle with them and hear about how they juggle their busy schedules with their family life. Here are a few photos from the Moms of ABC Mixer experience:
I met Malin Akerman, the star of TROPHY WIFE. Akerman plays Kate in the show, which is about her becoming the third wife of an older man with a determination to make it work out with her new family. Sounds interesting, huh?! Akerman was such a sweetheart, and her eyes are electric!
Frankie Shaw and Alexis Carra of ABC’s MIXOLOGY chat with Tara and Louise. They looked like they were having a good conversation!
I also met Patricia Heaton, I loved her on the show Everybody Loves Raymond! She now plays the supermom on ABC’s THE MIDDLE, where she’s running her household and taking care of her family the best she can. She is also a mom in real life, with high school and college aged kids. She talked a lot about them, which tells me that she is heavily involved in parenting at the same time as acting on the show.
Here, Kasandria of Ways to Save and Toks Olagundoye from ABC’s THE NEIGHBORS hang out at the event. I actually got to talk to Toks too, she’s a Nigerian born actress and is extremely happy to be able to live here in the United States. She plays a wife and mother on the show, and the family happens to be the ‘weird neighbors’ in the area, who end up being aliens from another planet.
We also met Ming-Na Wen from MARVEL’S AGENTS of S.H.I.E.L.D., Jami Gertz from THE NEIGHBORS, Amanda Fuller from LAST MAN STANDING and Wendi McLendon-Covey of THE GOLDBERGS.
Whether you’re a mom on TV or in real life, celebrity or non, I realized that we all have something in common: A quest to attain balance between our careers and families. It can be such a hectic thing sometimes, but I know that the hard work is all worth it. Make sure to visit ABC.com online for more information about these shows. Thanks for this awesome experience, Disney!
