The Cook Islands are becoming more and more popular with tourists from around the world. I recently returned from my first visit to Rarotonga, the main island, and fell in LOVE. The gorgeous white sand beaches, turquoise waters, plenty of adventures, warm weather and year-round sunshine, delicious local foods, warm and welcoming people and the proud culture, everything about the country is worth writing home about!
Need to know where to stay in Rarotonga? There are so many different types of accommodations available in Rarotonga that it’s hard to narrow it down. Well, I’m here to help you out! Luckily, I had the pleasure of a hosted stay in a beautiful, beach front bungalow at Palm Grove Resort. Located in Vaima on the Southern coast of the island, Palm Grove has just what you need in a resort for your vacation. If a secluded type of paradise is what you’re looking for, Palm Grove is the place to stay!
The Palm Grove Resort
Palm Grove boasts 26 great free standing bungalows and sits on 5 acres of land, part right on the beach, and part across the road in a lush garden area. Property amenities include an open-air restaurant and bar, on-site reception and tour desk with car and motorbike rentals, fresh-water swimming pool and bbq area in our quiet garden, library and laundry facilities.
The Yellow Hibiscus Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner each day, and has a full bar. Guests staying at the resort receive a complimentary breakfast each morning, which includes a light fare of fruits, juices, fresh coffee, cereal, yogurt and toast, there was a bowl of fresh coconut each morning, that was my absolute favorite! You can always ask the chef to whip you up some pancakes and eggs for an additional fee.
The location
I think the location of this resort is perfect for those who don’t necessarily want to be in the middle of the hustle and bustling tourist areas, yet close enough to get there with ease. The resort lies East of A’roa Beach, and a few miles West of Titikaveka Beach, which people tend to say is the most beautiful on the island. Go a couple miles further past Titikaveka and you’re in Muri, which is the most popular tourist spot on the island! The airport is a leisurely 20 minute drive.
The beach-front bungalow
You guys. This is what paradise truly means. Wake up to the sounds of gentle crashing waves, and open up your plantation shutter doors to see the gorgeous crystal blue ocean?! BLISS. The tropical decor, updated amenities and wooden beams make this bungalow unique, air conditioning and a private patio overlooking the ocean are highlights, you can’t get these things just anywhere on the island! I require that you book a beach front bungalow, there’s really no other way to go!
Look at this view from the patio…
We also stayed in one of their garden rooms, it was a little bigger than the beach-front bungalow and is better for families since it sleeps more people. There are also 2 and 3 bedroom houses available for larger groups. All rooms at Palm Grove come with kitchenettes, complete with stove tops, refrigerators, microwaves, pots, pans and dishes to prepare your own meals.
Relax, Stay and Play at Palm Grove Resort!
I loved everything about Palm Grove Resort, I highly encourage you to look at the property. If you’re looking for beach front accommodations in Rarotonga, Palm Grove is the place! Book early to be sure you can get your preferred dates, the beach front bungalows are very popular!
