5 Indoor Activities for Kids: Keep Them Busy Inside The House This Winter

I have partnered with Glade® to share these ideas of indoor activities for kids. Although compensated, all opinions are my own.

Baby, it’s cold outside!

How to keep kids busy indoors during the winter

I can only imagine how frigid it has been on the East Coast and Northern parts of the U.S. No thanks! In San Diego, we too have those days where we’d rather stay indoors. In order to keep the kids from going stir crazy, I’ve created a fun and cozy atmosphere at home by starting up our fireplace, using Pure Vanilla Joy scented Glade® Wax Melts to lighten the mood and preparing our plan of activity attack!

If you’re like me and it’s snowing or raining out, you’ll do anything to avoid going outside and freezing your buns off! Instead of bracing the cold, stay warm and cozy with these five indoor activities to help you keep the kids occupied…

Get them moving!

Kids need to stay active, but just because they’ve gotta stay indoors doesn’t mean that can’t exercise! Get in on the fun and play Simon says, bat around some balloons, have a pillow fight, or invite some friends over for a dance party. A personal favorite of mine is jumping on the bed. They’ll be moving and grooving in no time!

Family Movie Night

Watch a movie

Get the popcorn ready and grab a few blankets, it’s movie time! The last time we did this was over the Christmas break. I scoured the stores to find Home Alone, and my kids loved it! We’ll do it again soon.

Bake something

This is another great hands-on idea for you and your kids. Stop by the store on your errand run and have the kids pick out something they’d like to bake. They will learn to measure, pour, properties of different ingredients, how to read and follow directions, and all about what it takes to make magic happen in the kitchen! Recently, my kids and I baked cupcakes topped with vanilla frosting inspired by the soothing fragrance of the Glade® Pure Vanilla Joy scent. Another favorite of ours is to bake oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, but you can bake a cake, cinnamon rolls, brownies, breads, or whatever your taste buds desire.

Have a craft day

My kids love hands on activities, so I know that I can keep them entertained with different types of crafts. Bust out the paints, glue, scissors, crayons and create something fun!

Build a couch fort

This timeless activity is a childhood requirement in my book! Anything goes when building an indoor fort, so grab as many pillows, blankets, boxes, chairs, sheets, and tables as you can find and get to work!

There’s something about being at home that just evokes a warm, loving feeling. The sound of kids laughing, the taste of home-cooked meals and the scent of Pure Vanilla Joy lingering through the house helps create my #bestfeelings. I just love to have family around−there’s just no place like home!

How do you create the #bestfeelings for your kids at home? What activities do you prepare for your children to keep them occupied indoors?

To help inspire your creativity and #bestfeelings in your indoor adventure, Glade® is giving away a winter prize pack to one lucky reader. • Howdy! I know this is somewhat off-topic however I needed to ask.
Does operating a well-established website such as yours take a massive amount work?

I am completely new to running a blog however I do write in my diary on a daily basis.
I’d like to start a blog so I can share my own experience and feelings online.
Please let me know if you have any kind of ideas or tips for
brand new aspiring blog owners. Appreciate it!

  • My kids are teenagers but my younger one still loves projects, just more sophisticated. He made a watering station for our cats from a recycled water bottle and old fountain pump. He loves to paint also, so we bought canvas and paint from Michaels and I have hung some of his art work!

  • This year for Christmas I bought alot of arts and crafts for my grandkids. We are making snow globes for Valentine’s right now.

  • I’ve kept my kids busy with books, crafts, a little tablet time, letting them help me in the kitchen.
    Thanks for the chance.

  • I did visit Glade online and I would like the Hawaiian Breeze® melts. To keep my kids busy we always had board games, a kids standing art easel with plenty of paints, markers, and chalks. My youngest of 6 are teens now…but funny the board games STILL come out for all of us, and now movies together. The trick is to get something to do TOGETHER! It’s a long time here in Wisconsin to be shut in for months. Activities are a MUST!
