We loved sailing and snorkeling with Koka Lagoon Cruises in Muri Beach. This is such a beautiful island, and Rarotonga snorkeling is one of the best things to do in the Cook Islands!
One of my favorite things to do in Rarotonga, Cook Islands was to spend time in the beautiful blue ocean. I found that the best way to explore under the sea and around the Muri Lagoon was with Koka Lagoon Cruises! If you’re looking for the best Rarotonga snorkeling excursion, relax, unwind, and enjoy your holiday vacation on this unique adventure.
There’s really nothing like cruising the beautiful Muri Lagoon, the experience I had with the friendly Koka staff was a fantastic, unforgettable one. Look, you’re not living until you hop onto their glass bottom boat, sail out around some uninhabited islands, hop into the middle of the ocean with full snorkel gear, enjoy a good island feast, and enjoy a coconut tree climbing show all while being serenaded by the sultry sounds of a ukelele!
Koka Lagoon Cruises provides a great must-do Rarotonga excursion, perfect for the whole family. Here’s why…
A shuttle comes to pick you up at your hotel around 9am, from there, you stop a couple times to grab a few more people and head over to the Muri area. After you check in, step out onto the beach for this beautiful sight!
Board the boat on the Muri shore, the staff pulls the boat up as close to the sand as possible and helps everyone get in. When I say that this cruise is great for all ages, it really is!
The boat sails off and goes out a ways, circumnavigating around this beautiful uninhabited island. The staff say it’s untouched, they want to keep it that way!
While we’re cruising, the men on the boat serenaded us with ukelele and song. Look at these handsome men, it must run in the family, because Koka Lagoon Cruises is family owned and operated!
The glass bottom boat stops in the middle of the lagoon, that mans it’s time to jump into the water and explore! Snorkel gear and fins are provided, and flotation devices are available for those who need them. It was a little scary at first to jump into the middle of the ocean, but once we got in, it was AWESOME! Excuse the blurry picture, it was taken through a waterproof case.
After about 20 minutes, we hopped back onto the boat and sailed to this stunning, pristine island where we ate lunch and enjoyed an island show. This is a view that is not to be missed!
Isn’t it beautiful? While we explored this island, the crew cooked an island BBQ feat that was DELICIOUS.
Before we left the island, we were treated to an awesome coconut tree climbing, picking and husking show. The man who did all of this was called “Captain Amazing”, and for good reason! He climbed the tallest coconut palm tree in less than 10 seconds and showed us all about coconuts and what they’re used for in different stages. Do you see him up at the top of the tree?
We got to eat the coconut flesh and drink the coconut water, it was such a cool experience to see how they easily open coconuts and use them in so many different parts of their lives.
If you’re looking for a wonderful Rarotongan excursion, Koka Lagoon Cruises has got you covered! I would take this tour again and again, from the delicious island food, to the relaxing cruise, awesome snorkeling, coconut show, stunning views and service, everything was first class.
Make sure to book your Rarotonga snorkeling cruise ahead of time to guarantee your spot on the boat, get on “Captain Cook’s” boat and he’ll treat you to an adventure your family will remember for years to come!
Have a wonderful vacation in Rarotonga with Koka Lagoon Cruises!
