Take a look at the set of ABC’s The Middle TV show behind the scenes – the cast was all there shooting a future episode, this was such an awesome experience! One thing I love is good old fashioned comedy, and Tuesday nights are packed with laughs!
While I was in Los Angeles last month for Disney’s Queen of Katwe movie premiere, I had the chance to visit the set of ABC’s The Middle TV show behind the scenes! The show films at Warner Bros Studio Ranch in Burbank, CA, and it was pretty neat to be able to visit the set. We met Patricia Heaton, Neil Flynn, Atticus Shaffer, Charlie McDermott, and learned all about the costumes and props from designer Julia Caston!
An Exclusive Look At ABC’s The Middle TV Show Behind The Scenes
If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to look at a television show set, look no further. Our ABC’s The Middle TV show behind the scenes experience was unique, check out the set photos below…
It was a filming day here at the set of The Middle, so all members of the cast and crew were present. We got the chance to chat with them a bit between takes and grab a few photos – they are such awesome people! Atticus was the most memorable, he approached, welcomed, and shook hands with every single person in our group. I loved it!
When the cast and crew broke for lunch, I took a few photos of the set. It has a 70’s feel to it – the furniture, photos, trophies on the mantle, and the exposed brick and other home stylings were of that era. I love the detail they’ve put into the set, it looks like a real family home – lived in with clothing strewn about, papers and magazines on the kitchen counter, and laundry baskets brimming with clothes to be washed – very realistic in any family home!
Pictures above is a peek into Mike and Frankie’s master bedroom. It was also very 70’s styled, they film a bunch of scenes in there so keep an eye out for it when you watch the show!
When the cast started to film a scene, we had to sit quietly and watch live on this monitor back stage. When the director yells, “ACTION!” there is really no talking, moving, sneezing, whispering, chewing, or breathing allowed! The cameras pick up lots of sounds, so it is silence until the scene is over and the cameras stop rolling. They do the same scenes multiple times to have lots of footage to choose from when putting the episode together.
We peeked into the wardrobe trailer and it is packed with outfits for each character! Costume designer Julia Caston is responsible for acquiring and organizing all types of clothing items to fit in all kinds of scenes. There are multiple copies of the same pieces, just in case they need an extra for any reason.
Don’t miss The Middle, Tuesday nights at 8pm EST on ABC!
A HUGE thanks to Disney and ABC for having us on set, it was an awesome experience to be able to see The Middle TV show behind the scenes! This season, the kids are stepping out of their comfort zones. Brick is starting high school and is trying to turn into the cool guy, and Axl’s got a love interest and she’s introducing him to the family. How will Frankie and Mike (mom and dad) react?
