Chef MJ Debuts A New, Organic Kids Menu at Hyatt Hotels

Can you imagine a kids menu free hot dogs? Fried foods? Those dreaded fatty burgers, chicken nuggets and french fries?

Hyatt Hotels nationwide are making this a possibility with their new organic kids menu that will knock your socks off! Designed by chef and author Alice Waters, the menu items are carefully chosen based upon sustainable and local ingredients that are clean and healthy. MJ and I attended a fun and informative lunch at the Red Marlin Restaurant in the Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Hotel. We were able to learn first hand how simple it is to create fresh, flavorful meals for our kids that are full of nutrition. This is stuff we could totally do in our own home!

Chef Danny Bannister was on hand to show us a few cooking tips with his demo and how they created the awesome For Kids, By Kids menu. I am sure you have never seen most of these items on a kids menu before: natural beef, salad kabobs, and even a healthy twist to the traditional PB&J.

You should also know that honorary Chef MJ was on the scene, helping out with the appetizer salads for the event. I have never seen someone curl carrots so well! Kids are generally proud of something they are able to do themselves, so a hands-on approach was an excellent tip. Guess what he ate first when he got his salad… yup, the carrots!

Fresh veggie salad, lemon dressing

Here’s a healthy twist on dessert: Instead of sugar and calorie filled choices, this fresh orange and fruit mix satisfies!

I appreciate a huge company like the Hyatt that takes the time to give a hoot about using local sustainable and organic ingredients in the foods they serve to their guests. They are a step ahead, not only using these eco-friendly methods in their kids menus, but in many of their food offerings as well. You can visit the Red Marlin Restaurant at the Hyatt Mission Bay Spa & Marina (highly recommended!) or enjoy fresh and clean foods from Hyatt restaurants nationwide.
