If you are looking to enhance your St. Patrick’s Day festivities, our easy green whoopie pies recipe is the way to go. Learn how you can celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with these festive and delicious green whoopie pies. These easy whoopie pies are perfect to make with cake mix.
Ingredients
- White cake mix, plus the ingredients to prepare (eggs, vegetable oil, water, butter, salt, etc)
- Green food coloring
- Frosting, your choice (we used chocolate!)
Whoopie pies recipe with cake mix
Prepare your cake mix as directed, making sure you have bowls, a mixer, and all of the additional ingredients listed on the white cake mix box. Add about 50 drops of McCormick’s green food coloring extract to the mixture and stir until completely combined.
Grab a greased cookie sheet and SLOWLY pour cake the green batter into equal-sized rounds. I emphasize slowly because the batter runs quickly, start small as the batter will spread. Mine came out pretty big, I wish they were smaller.
Bake the whoopie pie halves on baking sheets for about 10 minutes. When they’re finished, remove the pies from the oven and let them cool for about 3-5 minutes.
Frost and assemble your whoopie pies
Liberally frost one of your whoopie pie halves on the flat side. Take another half and sandwich it on top of the frosting. At this point, you’re basically done, but you can add sprinkles and other fun garnish.
Now, you’re in whoopie pie heaven. You can eat these slightly warm or at room temperature and they are truly a nice sweet treat. This is such a delicious St. Patrick’s Day dessert!
