Orange Creamsicle Frozen Twinkie Pie Recipe - a delicious Twinkie dessert

An orange creamsicle pie with Twinkies

Do you all remember the Twinkie scare a few years back where Hostess dared to discontinue the beloved confection? They must have realized that they were insane, because they have since brought it back and actually have The Twinkies Cookbook!

A delicious frozen Twinkie pie

There are so many desserts made with Hostess products and recipes using Hostess Twinkies out there. People are dipping them in chocolate, frying them, making trifles, Twinkie cakes, tiramisu, and all sorts of delicious desserts. What if your recipe could be featured in the Twinkies Cookbook? Wouldn’t that be awesome?

For my Twinkie recipe submission, I decided that I had to get in on the Twinkie comeback parade. Since it’s the summertime, a cool, frozen treat would have to do. I decided that I would make a frozen Twinkie pie with the flavor of creamy orange, layered with the iconic golden cake of a Twinkie.

If you’ve got a sweet tooth, this orange creamsicle dessert may be right up your alley! Grab the ingredients below and try our orange sherbet pie recipe with Hostess Twinkies.

Ingredients needed for frozen Twinkie pie:

  • Hostess Twinkies
  • orange sherbet, thawed
  • vanilla Greek yogurt
  • pre-made graham cracker pie crust
  • whipped cream
  • orange zest

Let’s get started with this recipe for creamsicle pie! Thaw out the orange sherbet ice cream until soft and slightly melted around the edges, about 30 minutes.

How to make a frozen Twinkie pie

In a bowl, stir the orange sherbet and Greek yogurt until thoroughly combined. Slice 4 Twinkies long ways and arrange them as shown above. Twinkies should lay flat into your graham cracker crust. You may have to cut off the edges of the Twinkies for them to fit without bunching up in the pie.

Pour your orange sherbet mixture over the Twinkies, covering the whole thing. Place the pie on a flat surface in the freezer for 3 hours or until completely frozen. Sprinkle your orange zest over the top of the frozen pie, slice, and serve with whipped cream.
