Baseball cupcake ideas – it’s a cupcake cake!
It’s a cake – no it’s CUPCAKES! My son recently had his 10th birthday party (OMG) and he requested a baseball theme. I had the decorations all squared away, and I needed to find a cake! I believe in DIY-ing most of my party decorations and supplies, so I made a fun baseball pull apart cupcake cake.
You’ll love these baseball cupcakes
This is one of my new favorite baseball cupcake ideas, and it’s so easy to make yourself. These sell at grocery stores and bakeries for $40-$50 and only are available seasonally. I have seen football cupcake cakes and unicorns, but never baseballs! You can make this baseball cupcake cake easily at home for just a fraction of the cost. Grab a box of cupcake mix, frosting, and decorative icing and you’re ready to make this awesome pull-apart cupcake cake!
How To Make a Baseball Pull Apart Cupcake Cake
- 20 – 24 plain cupcakes
- (2) – 16 oz. cans of white frosting
- red decorative cake or cookie icing
- large round plate
Step 1: Start making your baseball cupcakes
To get started making your baseball cupcakes cake, bake the cupcakes according to package instructions and allow them to cool. I always use a box mix to make things easier, planning a party is exhausting! Arrange cupcakes side by side on a plate in a round circle shape, making sure the sides of each cupcake are touching eachother.
Step 2: Add frosting to your baseball cupcakes
Next, whip frosting in its can to loosen up, this helps spread it onto the cupcakes a little easier. Ice the cupcake cake evenly and spread the frosting well to make it look like one round circle. Make sure you get it in all of the cracks! Refrigerate the cupcake baseball cake for 10 minutes to solidify.
Step 3: Add the red baseball threads
Now, you’ll add the red baseball stitching with the red decorative cake icing tube (we used a cookie icing tube because of the narrow tip size). Carefully draw two long curved lines on either side of the cake, then add the stitches to each side. Refrigerate to set the icing, and pull out a few hours before serving.
That’s it – you’ve got a baseball cupcake cake!
The result – a baseball pull apart cupcake cake that is so much fun for parties and events! Try making your own cupcake baseball cake at home, it was super easy and the kids loved it.
