Surprise Easter Egg Rice Krispies Treats

We all love the famous Kellogg’s Rice Krispies treats, don’t we? They are just so delicious!

Since Easter is on the way, I wanted to make fun Easter treats that my kids could also have a hand in. Remember these pumpkin surprise treats from last year? Consider me INSPIRED! I decided we’d make an Easter egg version with… drum roll please… Cadbury creme eggs inside!

That’s right. Rice Krispies treats meet Creme Eggs. Genius. These easy Easter treats are delicious and it’s very exciting for unsuspecting kids to find a fun surprise in the center.  They’re fun to make, too! Perfect for an Easter party or as an Easter dessert. Try out this Rice Krispies treats recipe for Easter this year!

Surprise Easter Egg Rice Krispies Treats

  • 5 cups Kellogg’s Rice Krispies Cereal
  • 1- 10oz. package of Kraft marshmallows
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 12 Cadbury Creme Egg Minis
  • optional: assorted sprinkles for garnish

First, you’ll prepare the Rice Krispies treats. Melt the butter on medium heat in a large sauce pan. Add the marshmallows and stir until completely melted. NOTE: Only adults should complete this part.

Next, remove the butter and marshmallow mixture from the heat and stir in the Rice Krispies cereal. You can do so directly in the pan, but I decided to transfer to a bowl so the hot pan wouldn’t burn anyone. MJ had fun with this!

Once the mixture is cool enough to touch (but still warm), grab a small handful and flatten it out a bit. Place a mini creme egg in the center and wrap the Rice Krispies treat mixture around the egg, until it’s completely covered.

Mold it to egg shape with your hands, sprinkle on desired garnish and set on wax paper or other non-stick surface to cool. I rolled my Rice Krispies eggs in sprinkles on the wax paper.

That’s it! Now, enjoy your Surprise Easter Egg Rice Krispies Treats!
