Popsicle Stick Flowers Craft for Kids
You can try out this easy flower popsicle stick craft with your family. Here’s our tutorial on how to make pom pom flowers.
Materials needed for this DIY flower craft
- wooden craft sticks or popsicle sticks
- washable paint, paintbrush
- assorted colored crafting pom poms
- school glue, clear-drying (or a glue gun for adults)
- cup of water
You may also need:
- newspaper or something to cover your table
- clear glue sticks (if you use a glue gun)
Paint your popsicle sticks
First, we suggest that you cover your table or crafting surface with newspaper or some type of disposable cover. You will start by painting your wooden craft sticks. Choose your favorite colors and paint away! We decided that we loved lighter spring colors, like green, pink, purple, and blue.
Set your painted popsicle sticks aside and allow them to dry for 15-20 minutes.
Make the pom pom flowers
While your craft sticks are drying, find a clean space on the newspaper table cover and prepare to glue your pom poms together to create the flower petals. We used 6 medium-sized pom pom craft balls for each flower.
Starting with one of the pom poms as the center, add a little glue to the outside and begin to adhere the pom poms around it. With the school glue, we did have to apply a generous amount so that they would properly stick together.
Assemble your DIY flowers craft
Add the remaining 5 craft pom poms around the center and glue the last two parts together to complete the circle and close the flower. Once all flowers are complete, add glue to the backside of the pom pom flower and adhere to the top third of each popsicle stick.
We allowed our popsicle stick flowers craft to dry overnight and we recommend that you do the same to ensure that the flowers are completely dry. We were very pleased with the results!
Enjoy making this fun spring craft
Our flower sticks turned out to be very cute and colorful. This is such a fun pom pom craft idea to celebrate the spring season.
These craft stick flowers are so much fun and can be used for many different things – bookmarks, planter decor, gifts to friends, or even just some cute spring decor for the kid’s rooms. We had a fun time making these flowers together and hope you do, too!
