San Diego is not only known for it’s wonderful weather, beaches, and attractions, America’s Finest City has tons of great communities with even better food! The Hillcrest area is one of them, boasting lots of boutique businesses, cafes, bars, trendy shops and restaurants. I attended a media brunch at The Buffalo Public House, their new menu is really, GOOD.
The Buffalo Public House is the latest food lovers gem, creating dishes with a fusion of American and Brazilian cuisine, craft beer and wine selections, and a brunch menu to die for! Using local and sustainable ingredients, this day and night gastropub establishment has a menu that includes organic burgers, steaks, fresh baked flatbread pizzas and salads, and Brazilian favorites like pastels, feijoada , shrimp moqueca, and fresh Brazilian and American desserts.
I attended a media brunch to try the newly revamped menu, there were lots of items on the menu that I wanted to try. I ended up tasting a few different egg dishes and Brazilian style foods, here are my favorites…
5 Must-Try Menu Items at The Buffalo Public House
1. Brazilini Mimosa
Get started with this tasty cocktail, featuring sparkling wine and orange juice.
2. Honey Butter Biscuits
We had these as a little appetizer before our meals came out. Piping hot out of the oven, these biscuits come with a creamy honey butter, drizzled with honey. I wish I could eat these on a daily basis, they were soooo good!
This was my favorite dish! Think chilaquiles with a Brazilian twist: linguiça sausage, scrambled eggs, cojita cheese, house made salsa verde topped with avocado & sour cream. Careful, the salsa is a bit spicy. This is a MUST ORDER DISH, don’t debate me.
4. Linguiça Sausage Scramble
My mom was my guest, she chose to order the Linguiça Sausage Scramble. It was pretty good, they use free range organic eggs in all of their dishes, this plate had black beans and rosemary red potatoes as an accompaniment.
5. Stuffed French Toast
This delicious french toast is stuffed with fresh fruit and blueberry compote, topped with mascarpone cheese and a grilled orange slice. I considered this dessert, because it was a satisfyingly sweet ending to our delicious meal! I recommend you order this one.
Look, the next time you’re in San Diego, mozy on over to the Hillcrest area and stop into The Buffalo Public House! It is a family friendly establishment that I would recommend visiting during the day. At night, the area is a little more adult themed, gastropub style with the night life and such. I have yet to visit for dinner, I want to try the coxinhas, spicy ac with craft beer sauce and pastel. Thanks for having us!
