Fun candy corn treats to love

We are excited for all things fall – Halloween, Thanksgiving, pumpkin patches, falling leaves, and all of the other fun autumn festivals and events. Candy corn is such a fall staple – I feel like you either love it or hate it, but it’s here to stay!

We love all things candy corn, so making these fun candy corn shaped Rice Krispie treats was a must (we have also made fun Thanksgiving Rice Krispies Treat turkeys, which are also a lot of fun). This recipe is achieved by using layers of orange marshmallow treats, yellow, and plain white. Here is how we made this fun candy corn treats recipe.

Get your ingredients together

Let’s get started with these candy corn rice krispie treats! First, we start by grabbing all ingredients – marshmallows, Rice Krispies, food coloring, etc. You can find that list of specific ingredients below. We made this recipe on the stovetop and used a Springform pan for ease of use.

Next, lightly spray a 9-inch cake pan with non-stick spray and set aside. Eventually, we will invert the candy corn Rice Krispies Treats onto a plate, which is why the Springform pan is recommended.

Melting marshmallows for Rice Krispies Treats

Melt down the marshmallows

Melt the butter in a large saucepan on your stovetop on low heat. When the butter is completely melted, add all of the marshmallows. Stir constantly until all marshmallows are melted. Remove the marshmallow mixture from heat and stir in vanilla.

Mix orange and yellow food coloring in marshmallows

Create your candy corn colored layers

Separate your marshmallow mixture into three separate bowls loosely into thirds – one for each color to make these candy corn treats. Make sure that one of the bowls has a little bit more marshmallows than the others, this will be the yellow outer ring and requires the most materials.

Then, add your yellow food coloring to the bowl with the most marshmallow in it, and add orange food coloring to the next bowl. I used about 10 drops each because I love the vibrant color! The third and last marshmallow mixture will remain white.

Note: I could not find orange food coloring, so I combined red and yellow in a small bowl before adding it to my marshmallow mixture.

Add Rice Krispies cereal equally to each colored marshmallow bowl – this should be about 2 cups of cereal per bowl. Stir each bowl until cereal is completely coated with marshmallows.

Put the yellow, orange, and white candy corn treats together

Next, grab your cake pan and start with the yellow outer ring. Spread the yellow Rice Krispies around the outer edge of the pan, forming it evenly with your hands. This should take up about 1/3 of the space inside of the pan.

Then, create the orange ring on the inside, forming it to the same size and height as the yellow ring, and finally, fill the middle with the white Rice Krispies mixture. Press down to make sure the top is even all around and allow the candy corn treats to cool and set for about 20 minutes.
