Have tons of sensory fun with this DIY magic moon sand recipe, where kids can build, shape, and mold to their hearts’ content! This post brought to you by Faultless/Bon Ami Company.
Summer is in full swing and we have been having a blast! My eldest is in summer camp, while my preschooler has been at her school a few days a week, and home hanging out with me. I have been trying to come up with different activities and boredom busters for her, our latest is this fun and colorful DIY Magic Moon Sand!
We experimented with a few ingredients, and we found that our magic moon sand turned out best with a liquid spray starch. I have known to use Faultless Premium Starch with our laundry, it’s clog free, non-flaking formula has worked at home when ironing pretty much any clothing I’ve needed to. Who would have thought that I would be able to make a fun sensory activity for kids with it, too? Here’s how to make our Magic Moon Sand DIY at home, it’s really simple and your little ones can help you out, too!
Magic Moon Sand Recipe
You will need:
- 1 cup Faultless Premium Starch
- 1 cup baking soda
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- food coloring
To start this magic moon sand diy, grab a large bowl and combine the Faultless starch and baking soda, mix thoroughly. I sprayed the starch into a measuring cup to make sure I used the right amount. Slowly stir in oil, you may want to put in a little less to get a lighter consistency, but if you put in too much, the magic sand will stick to your hands.
Separate the mixture evenly into bowls, one for each color of food coloring you’re using. Stir each with a different spoon until the whole mixture is coated with color, you are now ready to play with your Magic Moon Sand!
We had a blast with the magic moon sand diy, my daughter spent a good hour building and molding with her hands. We took it outside and played in the grass, it’s quite messy so this was a great move! I am glad that I had a bottle of Faultless Premium Starch, it not only keeps your clothes wrinkle-free and looking new – you can craft with it!
I hope you learned how to make magic sand!
